Tried the trial...it's not as bad as people make it out to be.
I just got done BETA testing LOTRO and was bored to death. It reminded me of Guild Wars Redux. Anyway, I was looking for a game to play this weekend as I patiently await Age Of Conan. I tried every single trial/free MMO out there and lost interest in a day with most of them. I been playing WoW for awhile, but got tired of it so I decided to try Rappelz. It was ok, so I saw a thing on a website for ArchLord. I'm pretty impressed with it for being a free to play MMO. I didn't like a few things about it at first. The character creation stinks, but all in all it is a pretty good game. I don't care to much for point and click. But it gives you the option to use "AWSD" to move but it isn't that user friendly. I play an archer and I find myself at level 6 sitting alot or drinking tons of potions. It's a pain in the butt to kite with the point and click, and you really don't do much damage to the lowbie monsters. I got the 10 day trial, and I guess I have to buy it to play until Conan comes out...but I don't know if I will. I might stick to Rappelz. I'm starting to get fed up with the Korean MMO's though...they all seem the same. In your opinions, why do you think this game gets tons of negative responses?

Anyway, Archers are the weakest class at the start of the game, they do the least damage the first few levels, but this will change quickly. Just hang on untill you learn some of the damage buffs.
It's gets a ton of bad reviews because it's a pile of dog doo.
You will be doing the same thing at lvl 50 that you are at lvl 6.
So for now it seems fun and different.... just wait...
The game went free for a reason, no one wanted to pay for it, and they were losing subscribers left and right.
My original toon was a lvl 52, I went back once to try it again, my whole guild had quit and moved on. I logged in any way - started playing whack a mole for the umteenth time and logged out after 10 minutes, it's just brutal.
Don't expect more than 30 days entertainment out of it, if you can keep your expectations low you will be fine.
The reviews are bad because none of the reviewers could actually be bothered to play the game. Even sites like gamespot payed itt to level 7. Yes, level 7, which can be made in 15~ 30 minutes.
oh Zigmund, look at that, ArchLord went up another point in the game rating here, I guess less and less people are intrested in your "Everybody thinks ArchLord sux0rzz!!11" propeganda then you would like to believe eh?
Played this game.
1)This game is crap
2) Repetitive gameplay
3) Acclaim free to play games pwns archlord by far.
4)Nuff' said.
5)Lineage2 new update is comming while archlord lags wayyy behind in updates, so whos got the last laugh now?
This game is not even worth $30.00 for the retail box.

I will tell you why, NCSOFT has its own american lineage 2 devs, and what does codemaster have? They have no American devs to control in game content and relies on korean devs. Same concept of mmorpg L2 and archlord. Archlord fails everyway.
But to who exactly are you talking to? Why in heavens name do you bring Lineage 2 in this topic? If I wanted to know why "Lineage 2 will be superior then ArchLord in your opinion" then I would have asked for it. Take your Lineage 2 propeganda somewhere else, to the Lineage 2 section for example, where it belongs.
Yeah, and Acclaim has how many games? exactly.
Yea well NCSOFT pwns this inferior version of castle siege wannabe. Its no wonder it beats NHN in korea.
Anything else you want to say on behave of NCsoft marketing in a section of game you don't even play, or can we get this topic back on topic again?
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't L2 $15 a month or so? Wasn't it the game that took the first person a year or something close to it to reach the max lvl? Didn't he spend that year doing nothing but grinding like crazy to get there? Then what is there to do? Group up and kills boss's? Castle Siege? So what does it have that Archlord doesn't have other then a monthly fee?
It's prettier...has it own dev's you say...more class's...anything else?
Other wise it's grind of a game just like every other asian mmo. Same thing all the Acclaim MMO's are also. I've played 2 moons and 9 dragons, they were no different. Archlord has just as much as any other free asian transplant mmo out there and one thing 99% of them don't. ASWD...
Anyway Gameloading the OP asked everyone what they thought the reason archlord kept getting flamed was. A few people chimed in most of them with variations on the same answer:
Theres plenty of other games better than it.
I myself am in the middle of giving archlord a retry in retail and its pretty terrible. The entire community is bitter over this patch 2 thing and most of the players are fileplanet free trial guys that dont talk or have a clue.
As to why lineage2 is better you dont have to spend a severe ton of cash to level up faster with chantra items.
As to why the other free to play games are better they cost the same amount monthly to level fast with the same depth or better of gameplay. Yet they also DONT cost you for the box which is a big plus.
Also it takes a lot longer to get to lvl 7 than 20 minutes. Especially if yer a noob player with no clue.
Anyway these are my thoughts id be interested to hear what your responses would be.

and L2's ASWD is better? Hell name one Asian mmo that is free or p2p that has decent aswd movement. This one has it, most of the others don't.
Most of the other f2p asian games do have a cash shop that make it easier to lvl. If it is free then it is becasue it has a cash shop and in just about everyone of them you can buy something to lvl faster, wether it be a potion like this one for 20% more exp or a weapon that does more dmg or something that goes in a weapon that does more dmg. Either way it's the same. A weapon doing more dmg makes you kill faster which makes you lvl faster. Same thing, different way to do it. Sure L2 doesn't cost you extra money to lvl up faster, it just cost you money every month to play and you still lvl just as slow in it as you do in AL without buying the extra's to lvl faster. L2 is the slowest grinding game ever if you don't use a bot or some other macro program to do it for you. But that's beside the point, your comparing a f2p game to a p2p. One where ya pay for a new expansion every year against one that is going to have a free expansion.
Of course it's a pain that CM aren't the developers and can't change things, but that is the same with every free asian import. None of them have programmers that can change things on their own.
So for f2p games, which other one offers better controls? Which one doesn't offer something in game to buy to help lvl faster? Which one isn't a grind fest?
Im comparing Archlord to other f2p games too. Archlord is the exact same as Silkroad except it costs the upfront price of the box.

I wont enter into a ' my baseball/football/rugby/soccer team is better than yours ' argument BUT i will say i beta tested archlord , left after beta, went back after the announced F2P , left and went back again recently.
The WASD movement is pretty bad
the pk camping is very bad , and before you player killer fans tell me i'm a ' care bear ' its the camping of the low areas by low iq types that kills a games appeal to the masses and its those masses who make or break a game.
Character creation reminds me of sailor moon cartoon , that in itself isnt the problem but the lack of customisation is.
my advise is : try it yourself and see if it appeals to you , dont pay overly too much attention to the fans or the slamers ,after all its your personal choice .... isnt it ??
I wouldn't bother however, if you much play a game like that play RF online its the best of that type.

L2 keyboard movement is just as bad.
RFO is p2p, not f2p and I played it from release to July. Same game, different package, as is all Asian MMO's.
Aren't there people aleady lvl 70 in Archlord? It has barely been out 6 months. Didn't it take almost 12 months for the first person in L2 to get up that high? So how is leveling in L2 faster exactly?

1. p2p, without item-mall
2. f2p with item-mall
if you wanna play without monthly fee, you should accept the item-mall. 'cause the compeny need money to improve this game. see Rappelz, Flyff, etc. all the f2p games have item-mall. plus, they don't force you to buy these items.
