Does this problem still exist?

PicklefootPicklefoot Member Posts: 218
Hey all, I had to leave WoW because it was unplayable, so I want to make sure they fixed this problem before I reactivate.

I would log in, or fly to a popular city and the majority of the players/NPCs would show up as "Unknown Entity" a lot of people had the same issue, but they deleted the thread where people went to get help for it.. Many people believed it to be the router they were using, others thought it could have been something else.

I was hoping by creating this topic I could get an answer of whether this issue still exists or not, thank you for reading this.

By the way I'm using cable internet, and its just me on the line.

Personally I have never heard or even encountered a problem like this.  So, no, this problem doesn't exist 'anymore'.

Well what happened was my computer was running WoW perfectly, no lag or anything. But the day they came out with a patch, a lot of us had this problem. Kinda sucky. Thanks for the replys by the way, guys.

Never had that problem, and I don't believe it exists anymore either.

It happened all the time on release servers, now realize most of the playerbase are not on release servers. However the hardware upgrades mostly eliminated this unless a specific area is seriously over crowded and the server bandwidth is saturated.

Sounds like a lag issue.  It could be video or ISP.  If you are an Alliance character you might just want to fly into less populated cities.

I know I almost never use Orgrimmar because of the sheer number of idiots parked right by the bank.  I've found like Silvermoon is far less conjested and offers almost no lag.

"Unknown Entity" occurs when players names do not load in time to display on their heads.  A lot of the time players instantly killed by a stealthed rogue will see "Unknown Entity" as the person who ambushed.

Yah, it's a definite issue with your connection.  This problem is one of my favorites when the shortbus kids come into the WoW forums crying about it.  They always blame Blizzard, when it's their own connection or hardware.  Here's the article and official troubleshooting guide:

Actually it was Blizz's fault for many users. While you will get unknown entities with a poor connection on your end it was a serious issue for entire raids only in certain zones, primarily BWL for a long time. Then AQ40 where there were many you tube videos of entire guilds getting unknown entity for every mob for the entire run. A few guilds all quit after months without a reply and threads getting deleted, including my own. Cay commented on it once saying she would look into it but not a thing after that.

Don't assume it is always the client's fault because it is not.
