I'm going to start my own website (with the help of my two friends HTML skills, they're really good) which will have MMORPG, misc game (like RTS/FPS) reviews. And a forum! With a section that everyone wants... the Pit of Hell (flame war forum).
Ok well my 1st game I'm going to review is the virus also known as World of WarCraft(crack)1!
---------------------------
Eairly on you will noticed the more cartoony look of WoW, but if you are a WarCraft player you will know that Blizzard has always used a non-serious look to their games, but they did have blood! Thankfully their engine allows for a nice smooth experience even on older rigs (2-4 years), but of course if you have thrown down the cash for a powerhouse you will get an even smoother game. But overall, it looks the same, only difference is slightly more detail models and Bloom... because Brown and Bloom is real (thank you www.vgcats.com).
-- Graphics - 9/10 (Looks good on any rig, but might not appeal to everyone)--
What is that in my ear? Oh the sound! WoW does have a very nice sound track, when you're in a city or duking it out with monsters in Naxx the back ground music fits in just right. For spells and your blade clinging against that enemy Orcs armor is pretty much like any other Fantasy MMORPG. Sound timing is dead on but can become repetative when casting your Fireballs for 5 mintues at one raid boss, but thats any game.
-- Sound - 8/10 (Great background and ambiant music, but still basic combat sounds. Note: You will more then likely have your sound low or even off during raids so you can hear over TS/Vent)--
Pretty environment and sound... We got us a game! Not really... Everyone looks for the guts of the game, the content. Reason being that WoW was a major success was due to its soloabiltiy. But this was its down fall, once you hit 60 (pre-BC) you had no choise but to raid. You could PvP but it would take just as much time if not more to get better gear. I personally loved the 40 man raids, but you could never miss a night or you would drop in DKP and miss out on alot. From level 9-60 you could team up or solo, I say 9 because before then they didn't have any instances or real team quest that low. I was a slow leveler because I chatted and goofed off alot, but if you wanted to powerlevel any toon to 60, it could take you a week or two. That is insane! Blizzard made it a little too solo friendly in my opinion. Quest were as basic as they come, not really fun, but very easy to do. Same ol' same ol' "Kill 10 rats." or "Bring this box to Joe because I'm too lazy to walk the 200 feet." Nothing innovative in the questing system, but thats ok.
--Content - 9/10 (Appeals to be a solo mans game, but then Back Stab crits you to tell you, that raiding is the better option of gear, the expansion has fixed that) --
Ugh... the most dreadful part... the community. I'm going to keep all my reviews clean (in language), this will be the test if I can. WORST community EVER. Phew... so far so good. Anyway it seems like ever where you go you could get a random tell calling you names or well... anything really. The GMs really didn't make it any better. If you got into an arguement with someone and you cursed them out or called them a name, 30 minutes later you got a GM telling you if you get reported again you're going to get a temp ban, OR if it went on long enough he will just log you off for a few hours (with a 5 minute notice which is nice... pssh). But I'm not bashing the GMs here, they we're nice in any problem I had in terms of quest, bugs, or people problems. WoW is not the place you can take the "law" into your own hands you will get slapped down. Noted: Do not talk back to the player, do NOT even respond just send a ticket to a GM, it will be a lesser headache. I made some enemies... but thoes enemies we're permabanned due to personal issues (hacking/botting). That has really nothing to due with the "Community" part just a good note to GMs doing their jobs.
--Community 4/10 (HORRID, I cannot stress that enough. If you play WoW make sure you have friends that you personally know because I would say ---------- of the player base is under --- and total assholes.... crap didn't make it. SOME servers are nicer then others, but in MY experince it was bad all round.)
Overall WoW was a great game, for the 2 years it consumed me. With "The Burning Crusade" I'm sure it hasn't really changed in terms of everything, from sound to community. They just scaled down 40 man raids to 20 or so man raids.
--Overall 7/10 (I would not suggest this as a 1st MMORPG, reason being it will make you lazy and wont want to pick up another game that has the long "grind" factor to it. Good for casual to the Hard Core, but for a fair warning it will consume you if allowed.)--
Well folks that's my 1st review, my next one will be City of Heroes / Villains, the game I am currently playing. Once I get my 1st 50 or close to I will have a good scope of the majority of the game to supply a well rounded review. I know it's pretty blad and general but let me know what you think!
1That is a joke, WoW is not a literal virus (like PC / uncurable disease).
Edit: Made adjustments to fit more "accutately."

It is 8.5million active subscribers ( source: www.blizzard.com/press/070307.shtml ) not boxes sold, your looking at far more boxes sold, its been in the top 10 PC charts in almost all countries for 2 years.
A nice review, but disagree with your community point, its sounds like you were as much as an ass hat as the few ppl who upset you, if some 1 asks me for somthing I reply if its not the reply they wanted (often some 1 asking for money) and start being abusive (never happened btw) i ignore them rather than shout abuse back like you did.
World of Warcraft has 8,5 million ACTIVE subscribers, check the customer definition of the press release.
This though amuses me.
So in your opinion, a player MUST go trough the grind hop before getting to a relativly grind-less game as WoW exactly why? because if he doesn't he will not be able to stomach the grind-full games?
And how that is a good thing? If a game has a boring grind that makes me lose interest, so be it! I do not want games in which i need to work for the good stuff, fun from the first moment etc etc, you surely heard it before.
Just thought to share my amusement with you all

What server do you play on where so many are immature and rude? Did you not make a guild? Hmmmmm...I think this was the true jist of your post, don't you think?
There is 240+ members in my guild on Uldum Alliance server only 20 are under age 16. Now, maybe you should work on your facts a bit.

The only non-guildies that I talked to we're so-so. They weren't the best players and sometimes well... did kind of stupid stuff. When I would say something like "You should pull one group at a time." They would have somekind of rude comment and more then likely they were, or their friend was, the group leader and I got kicked.
Overall, which was the point everyone is missing, WoW is a great game. If you read alot of reviews it's their opinion on the game, not nessacerally 100% fact. It is next to impossible to find out how 8.5+ million people act. For all you know 50% of the server could be composed of nice, mean, ok, skilled, crappy, old, yound, middle aged people. You just don't know. I'm stating on how I fell about the game. Whether you feel the same or not about what I stated.
Let's get off the community thing because you can just play WoW by yourself and it's just as good, for some people. I liked the raiding part so I pretty much had to deal with people. I was not a Guild Leader but I did help do strats for bosses and trash mobs (Naxx, when it 1st came out) so I did get mad when people wouldn't listen or would do something compeletly different when I said you should do XYZ.
Sum up - WoW is good over all, but I feel that some of the community is lacking in social skills (from what I've seen not what others have, I don't know what you see). Raiding pre-BC was tire some when you put out alot everyday but was well worth it to crush a hard boss for the 1st time with your friends and guildmates. I'm a PvPer but didn't really PvP in the BG, I like the World PvP better (not to be confused with ganking, that is just mean). Even if I got a free lifetime membership to WoW/BC I wouldn't go back, I would just give it to one of my friends to tell them to keep it.
That is just me, 8.5+ million other people like WoW, more power to ya and have fun!
