My EQ2 expierence...

Ive always been an EQ fan, i also have been playing MMO's half my life, and with all the buzz of EQ 2, i had to try it.

I liked it. it was fun. pretty easy to get a group despite it going on 3 yrs old. still a handful of new players, lots of veterans from EQ 1 :). lots of playable races and class', totally something for everyone. I definatley think that EQ 2 deserves one of the higher ranks in a "top MMO" list.

I can see why one may not like it however, the graphix are kinda demanding on the comp, as EQ has always been. and the style/genre it is, is still very D&D'ish, like a true MMORPG should be. so, for somone not to into the D&D scene, it may be a tad bit hard to get into.

I dont know if i will keep playing thow...I loved EQ 2 through and through, but, personally id like to catch a MMO at launch and stick with it, I hate how like, everyone I know already has one, if not two lv 70's, kinda makes me feel like im grindin up to be nothing in the end.

Im mostly waitin for STO but that Huxley has definatly caught my eye. also, seeing how I am a HUGE Final Fantasy fan,  was thinkin about hittin up FFXI despite what I know and or have heard about it...or maybe its time a take a break from the MMO scene lol, time to dust off that Wii!

I generally agree with you. I've been playing EQ2 since launch and now I'm really ready to quit. I'm just bored. I must admit developers have done their best to turn a lacklustre game into something entirely different (though watering it down in the process). Now we have a polished game, but it looks like a patched blanket to me. That is, it does serve its purpose, but there's a patch over patch over patch and it's difficult not to see it. For instance, game's economy is weird, as you can harvest stuff for two hours and earn enough money to buy a mount yet you wouldn't buy anything useful at broker. That's because chance you get a rare is too high.

Also, graphics looks quite dated now and while I'm no fun of cheery games like WoW and LoTRO, EQ2 fails to impress me now as well. It used to, though, especially areas like Nektulos Forest.

All in all, the game is still pretty good, but I want to play something which would be good from the beginning. I'm looking forward to WAR mostly right now. Its graphics seem to be not as withered as that of EQ2 and at the same time it's quite grim, which I like.

    I cannot explain the sadness
    That's fallen on my breast.
An old, old fable haunts me,
And will not let me rest.
