A game like Horizons

Anyone know if anything is in production?

I know Horizons got a bad rap from a lot of people, and much of the criticism was deserved, but for me it had a brilliant ballance that has not been bettered.

The combat wasn't brilliant, but it was very good. The quests were a little thin on the ground, but some were fun. The crafting was second to none, as was the the player structure and community fighting/building elements of the game. Overall it had the most potential to keep me playing for life that any game has ever had, and I've played a few!

So, basically, i'm looking for a game that has the basics of your standard MMO with the amazing bolt-ons that Hz added - ie building/crafting that centre on player owned structures. The initial interest in the game was huge, but they screwed it up big time - surely a developer out there is trying to pick up the pieces? Eve comes close, but I can't get into the impersonal nature of it (I'm not a spaceship, I'm a person!), while SWG had potential but seems sadly FUBAR.

Anyone got any news for me? And yes, I'm happy to alpha/beta :)

Made by David Allen, the original developer of Horizon. Most of his visionary ideas were not implemented, but I guess you might find some of that stuff in his new game.... no dragons though

If it makes you feel better: EvE is sorting out the problems with personalization by adding the ability to walk on stations as you,
which will add quite a bit I suppose.

    A video is avaible here

    In-game graphics mind you.

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

Horizons had the best score of any MMO as well.

I still run to that music 4 or so years later.

Yeah... not a big truster of David Allen... or David Bowman... or Brad McQuaid (anymore)...

Or Richard Garriot... (but only because of the last 3)

I think the MMO Market needs fresh blood, trusting on these good "oldies" is a doomed market.
