I been playing this, and let me tell you, the Open Beta is so much better than the Closed and these guys got their stuff together...but I find myself getting bored after playing and I don't know why. I started with a Lore Master and got to level 8 and all of the sudden it started to bore me. You would start in one city, do all the side quests, then the main quest then move on to the next town, start the side quests, then the main quest. I just got bored real fast so I decided to try an Archer. Same thing, got bored. It's a beautiful game, but it's just not grasping my attention. I was hoping this would suffice until Age Of Conan or Warhammer came out...but I find myself logging out and watching TV. There is nothing holding me in the game. EQ2, WoW, etc. always captured my interest. I don't know what the difference is. I can't put my finger on it.

I hate the feel of combat in this game so no matter what class (only 7? weak) I'd pick it wouldnt have mattered.

I realize that but it doesn't make me any less bored now.. I can't say I will stay with this game very long - depends on the higher end content and PvM... PvM I have played but not against players which means I am bored and can't decide.
It's a shame because we all know that players need to get hooked at the start. However, besides the very first instance, there isn't a lot that is "epic" in fell until late teens.

The concept of the beta test-drive was fine, but it should have been shorter: say 8-10 days, and with a cap of say 25. That would have kept things more "fired up". As it is now, people are leveling three characters to 15 over the course of a weekend and then putting the game aside ... which is not good for the game because once anyone puts a game aside you never know when they will pick it up again.

Anyone who has beta tested the game for more then 2 months or even half a year will feel bored, and just want to get to the point they where at before Pre-Oder beta started .
My advice , take a breather, play some Peggle or a fps andwait until the game goes live.
who me ?
I'm actually having a lot of fun WITH the level cap in place. It makes the game a bit more interesting when you know you can't come back in a level or two to face that mob, you either cowboy up or find a group. I've been working heavily on deeds to get the traits I want up and on crafting. I now have (at level 15) better armor than I did at 24 in closed beta, and I made it myself, and my traits are far better (for the 3 general slots you can have my levels are 4, 4, 3) I have all of my class traits completed except one.
I helped my wife finish 2 crafting quests last night, now she IS a tier 3 cook and jeweller (not that anyone could even wear the tier 2 stuff with the cap, but it was fun to finish them for her.
I think it's funny all the folks complain about leveling too fast in other games, well now's your chance to level REALLY slow! From 15-16 in 25ish days playing 4-6 hours a day. Top THAT Vanguard! =p But really if you forget about all the other thing you can do to improve your character aside from leveling, ya this has to be like watching paint dry (very pretty paint though).
I can relate to the Ops post. Turbine has turned simple grinding into questgrinding, which for me is a bit over kill. I've had a couple quests timed out on me already because the quest givers could'nt give there directions properly. Instead of east it would be west. Instead of in town it would be out side of town. Took me 20mins to find the damn lumber yard because of that. (and i was'nt the only one looking) lol
Also the fact that they have borrowed alot of ideas from DDO, WoW, Eq2 does'nt help things either. I really wish Turbine would have shown a bit more creativity on there part. It is after all Lotr! It seems that there letting the name do the selling. However due to the resemblance of other games it may hurt the company.
I really did have high hopes for this game, but for me at least the questgrinding is a bit too much and makes things boring after awhile.
One other thing.. I want a freaking horse at lvl 3 damnit! All that running back and forth is wearing out a hole in my boots! lol
if you dont like the game thats ok there is thousands of people who do so just go do something else i guess i personally like the game and have 2 guys at 15 right now but when it comes out i just think i will be 15 levels higher than anyone who just recently buys it so i go craft or get a kinship going

Too many tweakings needed and i dont think Turbine will improve it, just like all other MMO they made. Sad.
All canceled. Waiting on Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning.
I guess you decided not to work on your traits.
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:
GW2 (+LoL and BF3)
Should have pressed shift+L then or started farming. Or hit level 10 and looked at the options to spend your points on.
It is not the most innovative game on the planet, but it has a lot more than WoW and Guild Wars.
Lineage 2 and EvE Online are "sandbox" mmorpgs. That is, you're given a game and you aren't told how to play it. Final Fantasy XI is as well but to a lesser extent. Lineage 2 isn't worth the time right now because all the characters are level 70+ (that takes approximately a year to accomplish). EvE requires you to have patience.
Anarchy Online wasn't bad either, however....the game's just down right ugly.
And for the person who asked me about getting out of the newbie zone: if a game cannot catch my attention for two hours, why the hell would I want to keep playing it? I'm not a biased fan boy going into this game with a huge 'LoTR rules' mind setting. I went into this game to realize it is no different from other MMOs and was infact a WoW clone. The only difference is that WoW is uglier (but better gameplay).
Each to their own of course but I am having more fun in LoTR then I have had in a long time in an MMO. Personally I love having all the quests where as I hate pure experience grinding so what they have done really works for me.
I find the world/environment extremely engaging and find myself exploring just so I can enjoy the scenery. I like the incredible attention to detail, from the flocks of birds in the sky to the detailed quest text (which I am actually reading unlike in say WoW).
The biggest thing for me is having a story line that actually works. Storytelling is not something most MMOs even try and, as a veteran of AC1, it is something I have really been looking for.
Yes, it does take a fair amount of fortitude, but that can be said about most good MMO's that don't just rely on one form of gimmick, (like open PvP). May I suggest you find a role playing fellowship. Learn the fine art of story weaving. Again, not for everyone, but if you have a creative flare and enjoy writing, you may enjoy this.
