Fan boy down

I hate to say it but, this game sucks.  I find this hard to say because I fought so hard for it, I posted every time I could telling the haters to shut up.  Right now I honestly feel ripped off, this game blows, the worst part is I can’t get any money back for this game.

This game made a lot of promises and it isn’t that the game is horrible it just doesn’t do anything thing new or different.  The graphics are nice, the story is deep, and there is a lot to do but too many bugs.  I pre-ordered the game and played in the pre-order stage and had some good times.

I was excited by the game because you could own your own house, a boat and play the whole game as a crafter.  The only problem is, crafting sucks, ships really don’t work well and there are limited housing plots.

This game handed out a lot of crap and I kept asking for more.  First was the promise of an all new MMORPG from the man who made MMOs what they are today.  Second was the story of how Brad said no to the giant Microsoft and pulled his game because it wasn’t going how he wanted it.  Third was how Brad gave SoE the option to work with him on his vision but have no say over the game.  But nothing is different, this is a average game that needs a kick ass system to run with too many bugs.

Everyone who worked on the game said it was released too early, classes are missing, things don’t work, bugs kill more then the mobs. This is a big lump for me to swallow, I made an ass out of myself for standing up to this game, I blew $50 on the game, paid for two months of the game and dropped 200 hours into it.  A lot needs to change in this game or I think SoE needs to reimburse people for their losses.

Don't sweat it dude, you aren't an ass.  It takes a big man to admit they were wrong about something.  You had an opinion and shared it and now its changed and you let everyone know.

You're not the only one, my friend.  I spent a hundred bucks on it. Wife and I both played.  I feel your pain about the money issue.  However, I can tell you this; your experiences with this game will make you a more "careful" gamer in the future.

I do agree....game had so much potential. It had everything everyone wanted.

Brad's BIGGEST mistake was to run the show.  He should have stayed as a creative director and let others with more experience deal with the more complicated coding things.....as well as financial things.

Glad you woke up man. No hurt feelings. I know some of the Vanbois are still trying to hold on to the dream. I don't blame them. I wanted VG to be the next EQ1 as well but it turned out to be a disaster instead.

The sooner this game shuts down the better. Maybe developers will learn something from this.

    @ OP

Don't sweat it man, you have to be a follower, before you become a hater, it's all a matter of time. I am pretty much known as a "hater" of this game, but that wasn't always so. Only difference is, it took me less time to become disillusioned, maybe cause I was looking forward to other games just as much.

The only one's that are in denail are those that can't seem to understand that some people might have different opinions. You didn't like the game to bad bro wished you liked it and did not encounter all the baddness you did, i would drop the game in a second if i would have had such a bad experiance in a game cause i play games to have fun if i don't have fun anymore i move on just like every other common sence person. And it seems you did not have fun anymore so abviously a good choice for you to stop playing.

What i simply can not understand is that people are willing to put themself thru some games strungling as i read many times people trying HARD to like the game, i don't understand why someone would try hard to like a game, can't people just liike em or not like em, why try hard to like somethng? Then you read people saying "when i made lvl 38 but was bored, sorry thats a big LOL having a lvl 38 char after 2 months of release in a mmorpg, don't get me wrong i understand that for some people lvling in mmorpg is what they have fun with i respect that , but what i don't respect is due to all the news that was given about the game indeed not quite ready at the higher lvl that still people would pursuit the high lvl's to only found themselfs bored, i think allot has to do with patients, and allot has to do with bringing a particulair playstyle into Vanguard where Vanguard wasn't fully prepared for and afcourse allot has also got to do with the graphic perfomance of Vanguard which is unfortunaly high-end. I do hope they indeed are working at DX10 and Unreal 3.0 tech as they have said, don't understand why they did not start with that from the start, but like i said i'm not in the gaming industry i merly play them if i would have such rich idea's i see some having i would take my bet to get into the industrie.

Anyway good luck to whatever game you might find, i can say maybe LotrO might be a nice game for you, its definitly fun and very stabel, and open-beta or world tour are right now open for everyone to try so you can always give that a go.

Everyone gets pulled in by the hype at one time.  Then you wise up a bit and start researching and reading between the lines.

If everyone gets that cynical then the developers would be forced to push out polished products.  Not finished (in the sense that MMORPG's are never ending) just polished.

Never be afraid of choices. More choices are always good things.

Sorry man. I know some people think we "haters" have a personal agenda. But the truth is, friends don't let friends buy Vanguard.

I agree.  That was the main reason I just couldn't keep playing it.  I cannot honestly recommend this game to friends of mine (both in other video games & IRL).  I would feel like I ripped them off if I did so.

I think that's the real fatal flaw to VG.  They were so worried about the RPG that they forgot the MMO part.

I don't think they forgot about it I just think they don't know how to attract and keep enough subscribers to make the MMO part work. I'm sure that any day now SOE will push an NGE style update on Sigil in an attempt to lure people away from WoW (and now LOTRO).

If you like this game, it is absolutely nothing to be ashamed about.  You should be proud of the choices you make in this life, and damn it, Vanguard players need love too.

More power to you Vanguard fanboys!  Don't let the haters get you down!

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

100K subscribers from a reported 500K or so?  It speaks volumes.

I, too, bought this game and left it.  I am SO disappointed that I doubt I'll ever go back to it.

Reference or link to the 500K? Pretty sure I never saw that number announced.

i liked the game. i rated it an 8 on your poll.  it needs to cook a while longer and i will probably return when they bring it up to par.

I meant by his quote that that was his goal. You can see his quote here:

    http://www.silkyvenom.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3897&highlight=subscribers+goal

    Brad McQuad's quote:

I think a lot of people, including the 'old school' EQ 1 fan and also many, many WoW players looking for something 'more' will be attracted to the game. A couple hundred thousand players is conservative -- I think we'll hit 500k+. Only time will tell.

His goal was 500,000 +, though 200K being "conservative". He did not even break his conservative mark, as based on Gangster-man's quote.

    Sorry if I was confusing.

I would be shocked if there were 100,000 active subscriptions to Vanguard at this point. I'd be willing to be that the actual number is much lower.

Awww....it's to bad you don't care for VG, but don't apologize to the trolls on these boards. If they were any good ...they would spend more time playing and less time posting in games they don't even subscribe too.

We'll see you back in a few months though with the rest of sheeple .....once word gets out about how awesome VG is shaping up.
