in relation to one thread about free online games, I want to know what games are really worth the time?
Well, Shadowbane was a full release quality game by Ubisoft and had a huge following, eventually with the other games it's population dwindled, now condensed to 4 servers.
The gameplay is still a lot of fun and the guild/presence of yourself in the game is still beyond what any other game has acheived yet.
I just started playing again, and I hop in here and there, burn a few hours and since I'm not paying, I don't feel like I'm wasting anything.

You get what you pay for.
The thing I noticed while searching thru the free MMOs was that while you may be able to play the basic game for free, many of them require you to spend more money to get items or to use items you already have, like Dungeon Runners.
Shadowbane is the whole package it was when released 4 years ago, the only difference now is you see a 5 second add for DELL everytime you log on, which is how they are able to afford to have the game for free.
Shadowbane is great if you like open PVP and it is a high quality free game. I quit because of the following:
1. You HAVE to join a guild at a certain level, but they are impossible to get into:
-#1 because they are competitive
-#2 for no explanable reason
-#3 because you need to use Ventrillo or some other voice chat which I wont humiliate myself into using as I live in a public dormitory
2. Leveling is fast, but without Guild members(and theres no guaruntee that they will help you do this even in a guild) you cannot lvl at higher levels solo because gankers are everywhere at even the oddest hours.
3. Crappy point and click controls
4. Glitchy graphics will cause death
5. When I FINALLY got into a good guild because I had a common interest with a member, I asked a simple question about pvp on the guild chat and got banned for no reason. Community even withing the strongest guilds is very immature. After getting booted I quit rather than punish myself further.

I personally have found several games that are fun to play and are free.
ShadowBane seems pretty neat.
Also, there is Voyage Century Online, War Rock, Space Cowboy, FlyFF, Gunz, and some others I can't think of right now.
They all have different aspects to them that - to me - make them worth trying out.
But as the other guy posted - you get what you pay for. So, these being free games; don't expect them to be perfect.
