I've heard of this game, but I can never get anyone to tell me the big picture of this game. Can you let me know of some features that I might like?

Nevermind I saw the FAQ. Missed that. Looks like more of the same though

    Some of the features:

-Flying combat, you can PvE and PvP on air with your flying mounts.

-Open PvP after lvl30, you can attack anyone over lvl30 outside towns, attacking people makes you red and gives chance that you drop some of your gear if killed...redness lasts few hours

    - dozens of different mounts, flying and land based.

-Hundreds of pieces of casual clothings and armors to tweak your appearance with.

-Steep character creation, you can very much tweak your character to look like you.

    -underwater cities and combat.

-Greatest graphic engine seen in asian mmorpgs to the point.

    -HUGE world

-Biggest budget mmo ever developed in Asia

I dunno about the graphics in this game. The engine might be good but aside from the effects im not impressed by the screenshots. Typical weak models and textures with decent effects and glow.

Hopefully the features that theyre hyping for this game turn out to be true ill believe it when i see it and i can play an english version of this game.

Until then ill keep my eye out.

    So what's the deal... eh?

I always get suspicious when a game is advertised as free to play.  What's the catch?  Is there an item shop I have to buy crap from to be able to get the items I would need or want in a game?  What's the catch??

There will be item shop, but instead of neccesarities, there will be casual clothes (this game has hundreds of them...literally) and mach3 mounts etc...

    That kills it for me...

I would rather pay $15 per month for a game that doesn't require me to buy clothes, or offers "special" items for people who pay real cash for them.  All set, thanks.

I just watched some videos on youtube, it looks awesome and its free, i dont care about the item shop as long as it doesnt give players massive advantages (they have said it doesnt) from what iv read its just nice little extras apart from the faster flying mounts which will be helpful.

Im definatly going to play this, it does look very good and has alot of great features if you read up on it.

    Thanks for the informing post.

Ok... so if the item shop only consists of clothing and faster mounts... where is the catch?  Where are they making the money to cover development costs?  Where is the revenue stream to cover the infrustructure maintenance?  How are they paying their CS people?

Either the game is going to be another "walmart" game, where you have to buy everything you need with a credit card, or there is something else to it.  I'm not trying to piss in anyone's cherrios, but really, what's the angle?

The best mmorpg that you will never ever have to throw any money on(monthly fee or item shop) is DarFall Online.

We'll see if Darkfall ever gets released.

But thank you for that completely unrelated reply.

Typical response of the uninformed. No item shop game EVER required you to purchase anything. often the items purchasable are items that don't matter, such as fancy clothes without stats, or pets.

The topic was about free mmorpgs. Since DarFall will never be released it is free of charge.

Typical response of the self important egotist.

Obviously you are not REQUIRED to buy anything... you can go without the bonuses if you really want to.  And there are item shop games which the non-purchasing players do not get the same benefits.

    Go blog something.

If you don't know what I am talking about... I question your qualifications to blog about games.

And as I stated above...  I was asking what the catch with THIS game is.  Are you personally familiar with the game?  Or simply replying to get more views of your blog sig advertisement?

Yes I did... obviously.  And I went on to post that I do not believe it... or there is some other source of revenue for the publishers.  Or did you not read that?

And thats why I said you are uninformed. Its obvious you underestimate the amount of people that buy such things as casual things and mounts. Maple Story has been doing it for years, never been a catch. or Gunbound. Heck, even Habbo Hotel has been doing it since forever.

If it is point and click like the rest of the asian games it is another POS!

Never mind I missed it in the FAQ, they do allow keyboard movement, wonder of wonders.

  • IchmenIchmen Member UncommonPosts: 1,228

have they offically posted what they plan to have in the item-mall and what "special" items it will hold, seeing as its an asian mmo normally IM's have the godly rare gear that almost never drops in the game. or items that they set the drop rate to 0.0001% so your "not forced to buy it" but really you have to buy it to even have a chance of owning it.

case in point there are games like rose online or voyage century online where you pretty much HAVE to buy item mall gear to get anywhere. they have all the "not ingame" items in the item mall, or stuff that lets you tweek the character apperiance so you dont look like all the other people. kind of like hair colouring and special armor covers that change breastplate in to a santa suit or such.

so have they listed the full plans for the item mall?, showing items. the items bonuses (if any) and costs for them?

i ran across way too many asian mmos where they lame the game up with their cash cow milking item malls. they will lock important quest items or the final end gear in to the item mall then charge 10 bucks their money for it, which could cost NA players any where from 1 dollar to 50 bucks.

i really hate free games that force you to buy item mall gear just to get a 0.1% advantage over the everyone else.
