i've tried the world tour thing with 2 toons both up to lvl10 but i thing i'm done with it. looks great and runs good but its so boring its just like ddo all over again.
I agree I played that world tour phft I was so bored I quit after the first couple of quests. I'm not a WoW player myself but I don't think anyone playing WoW will switch over to LOTRO
I think you can grab alot of WoW player base with a similar product that has newer content, with engine and graphics.
Seeing as there are people who have been playing wow for 2 years and have less than 1000 honorkills its safe to assume that pve is their focus. Wouldnt LoTRO attract this player?
For me - it's like this... I am swapping over to LOTRO because it's polished, decent PvE, at least has some form of PvP... Not saying it's bettter than WoW because when WoW was new it was better and even more polished than LOTRO..... I am swapping because LOTRO is new and hopefully - It will tide me over till WAR, AOC, Darkfall (yeah Right) or spore comes out....
I played the Lotro beta to level 15 (max in beta) with the champion class. I was not too overly impressed with it. The graphics & music are great. The skills are fine.
The combat feels clunky, the attacking and special moves don't perform smoothly like WoW. You click a hotkey to attack and it doesn't happen immediately like it should. It's heavily quest based which is a double edge sword. On the good side, you never have to grind. On the bad side, you only every group to complete your current quest and also some of the quests are bugged. Some of the quests are also vague in description or just boring.
Not me. Starting in Lotro would be the same as starting a new character in WoW, its the exact same thing

apart from being a MMO & aimed at the average player I see nothing the same & saying its the same if you craated anoth character in WOW is absurd , you would be doing exactly the same quests fighting the same mobs , traveling over the same zones , yes LOTRO may feel like WOW but its nothing like it ...
I did the tour of the world thing for a couple of days. I was impressed by the level of polish this game has, but it doesn't offer anything over WoW to warrant moving imo, unless you're tired of WoW which I'm not.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

The classes are exactly the same. they just have a diffrent name slapped on it, spells are only partly diffrent, the setup is the same. Its the same stealthy melee damage dealer, the same ranged damage dealer, and the same warrior tank.
in WoW,the gameplay is as follows. your always doing quests, an instance in a while, and pvp when you feel like it. and in Lotro, its the EXACT same thing, even the quests are the same, its mostly go kill XX quests with an instanced storyline quest thrown in it. Even the battles take around the same time.
I didn't find the gameplay in Lotro to be any diffrent from WoW nor did I find it an improvement.
I'm switching. I'm completely bored with the constant nerfing/buffing to PVE due to PVP problems. Not to mention the insane reputation grind that TBC brought.
Can't see the point of changing. I enjoy PvP too much.
There are games that may make me change, if they deliver what they've been promising. These possibly include TCoS, PotBS, AoC and WhO. Why change to Warcraft lite just for a few pretty graphics when those goodies are just around the corner?
the point of changing is prolly that WoW gets old. Ive played it for over 18 months and at a certain point, its just time to let go. That is the case with many WoW players I've met, still the vast majority stick to it (which is perfectly normal, there are seldom any huge player shifts due to new games, sub changes occur over time)...
...but there are many reasons to quit WoW for anothe game (which maybe LotRO or whatever, most people are NOT driven away by another game but quit by burn-out and take a mmo-break or go trial-testing).
I quit and will go to LotRO, but not because of LotRO alone, but because I've got 3 toons 60+, my main being 70 with T4 karazhan clear and its just like always. Raid or boredom, now until now it was good enough to have a nice guild and go raiding, but hell, there's nothing except the big "R". Suuure, quests and grind, suuure... took me 24 ingame days to get my char to 70, the major factions to exalted, all the craftable gear and goodies you can possibly get and remain with the options to farm mats for raidsupport, go raiding or go grind heroic instances, which resembles, besides the raid-part, work. No fun. Period. Its nice for some time when you can level up other toons and actually explore areas you havent explored before, but WoW certainly has a dead end point when its no longer fun. For many people, that could be just now, after 2 years... And I KNOW many quit while many new players joined...

Amusing, you know what you sound like now Gameloading? Exactly like the people you lambast for saying the same thing about Korean games. Hypocrite much? So take a little of your own medicine and politely silence yourself until you can at least tell me you were in LoTRO closed beta and reached 50. Because much like you accuse many people of in the past, you aparently didn't play long enough to formulate a VALID opinion. Choke that down, the truth hurts and someday when you grow up you will learn you have to walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
Besides, I think you miss the point entirely. (as usual) WoW= Blizzard lore. LoTRO=Tolkien. New setting, new content, new anything will attract those of us that have played WoW since CLOSED beta and are just sick and tired of the same old, same old. Does it have to offer revolutionary gameplay? No. Does it have to offer new content in a different setting? Yes. Simple as that.
Sidenote: The classes are not the generic MMO classes. Theres Tank and Heal, sure, thats essential and will stay, but all the support classes have greatly shifted abilities. The Lore-master is not the mage, hes a distance buff/debuff class with mid-dps, the classic offwarrior (champion) is the main Damage Dealer, MELEE, Hunters are actually archers with classic P&P archer skills, even the Burglar doesn't resemble the standard "backstab dps monster"... Actually hes more of a tactic/conjunction/groupplay guy...
So how on earth is this system "all the same", go inform yourself ^^
OK but what can i do in LoTRO? Mine ? are they big rocks sticking outthe side of hills #wink wink#
PvE quest 24/7, hit 50 then Raid for equipment? What are the objectives of LoTRO?
So far they seem to be the same objectives that WoW has.... same game becuase after all i will be doing the same things.

I will play Lotro, not that I have any big expectations about the game, more like testing it and having some game to play till next release or when Vanguard gets out of the beta shape.I did play WoW from day 1 and that game did only last for 3 months before I got bored of it.
I think it can easily be summed up. If you enjoyed WOW, but have grown weary of it, either from the raiding, the faction grinding, the endless hunt for better gear or gold farming, then LotRO will probably be a great fit for you . In fact, I'll go so far as to guesstimate that about 95% of all LotRO players have at least tried WOW in the past. (and I'll be most liked it to some extent)
If you are not bored with WOW yet, LotRO probably doesn't offer enough of a difference to entice you to leave, and if you hated WOW with a passion, pretty much I can say you won't enjoy LotRO (yes, I know there are exceptions)

P.S: Plus, noone has leveled beyond level 15 yet.
Of course I know of plenty of people that won't even try LOTRO.
The lack of gankstyle PvP is a real plus for most of us.
There is just so much to do in LOTRO. Most of us have burned out of constant Rep Grinds and the endless instance crawls.
