I think it offers a nice Hybrid experience for the RPG/FPS crowds. While on one hand you have to manage your resources with your clan to establish cities and obtain techologies you also have your own personal skills to maintain. Some people will enjoy it because of the combat. It requires you to factor in sound, terrain and weather. Sort of like Oblivion. On the other hand the more homebody sorts will enjoy collecting scrap and rebuilding a heap from the ground up. Personally I look forward to the setting from the locational standpoint.
I was born in that area and know darned well its a huge HUGE area with some awesome locals.
This should win over a lot of Fallout fans or fans of post-apoc settings in general since the competition for this is *slim* among online RPGs
2. FPS combat:
Again something rare among MMoRPGs. Those games that had it so far pretty much failed because it was either implemented badly or the game was lacking in other vital areas. This feature is one of my personal favorites.
3. lack of good competition:
Many who wait for this are simply tired of fantasy settings and/or dumb grindfests which make up the current majority of MMoRPGs with only few notable exceptions.
4. Sandbox:
Those games have become very rare in favor of linear grind games so people are hoping for FE to deliver.
5. PVP War:
While restricted to zones the PVP will be more about capturing towns and outposts rather than just plain killing each other, again a personal favorite, hope it turns out as nicely as described.
6. Some more stuff: Mounted combat (this alone should make it a winner imho), zombies, gore, lack of class restrictions, deformable terrain
There's more but for that you might want to browse the official forums.
I agree with the above, im sick of the fantasy setting!!!! After watching the movie's posted earlier i think this game will have lots more to offer then all the wow clones... plus i like my toon to be more realistic not just some cartoon looking thing.
mounted combat ... havent seen that sence my swg mount/dismount macro lol
im just confused as to how i managed to miss this game. concept is A+, i just hope it delivers and doesnt fall into the trap of "you can do anything you like, but if you dont learn rifles you are boned" or try to do too much and fail at key things.
3.the only instances are certain mission hotspots. (to prevent camping)
4.you can build cars eventually. although finding and assembling all the components may take a guild effort and a year.
5.NO CLASSES
6.anyone can learn anything. you can teach skills to other players (shades of swg)
7.crafters can set up things to craft and log off and it keeps crafting (but at a reduced xp rate) so crafters can explore and not just be stuck at a crafting station
8.zomies. zombies ftw.
do not ask about captain pouches.....there is no wombat.

Quoted for truth, thats exactly why I am looking forward to Fallen Earth.
I'd say it's because it's a new Neocron. Neocron being the best MMO ever made, still got old due to some developer misses... (Poor bastards) And hence, we hope for Fallen Earth to be what Neocron 2 wasn't.
Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW... It all sucked.
Just trying to live long enough to play a new, released MMORPG, playing New Worlds atm

Pretty much sums it up for me too. Looking foward to some fps style combat in an mmorpg. Plus the fact that this game will grow with time. Starts out with lo tech stuff and player driven crafting/questing etc. could result in hi tech stuff appearing.

Because I'm tired of writting novels, I'm doing my post with pictures now.... Hooray for me......
What to be excited about...not sure yet, its all just promises but at least its not another f*cking fantasy clone.
Here are some reasons
Zombies who are trying to eat your face (ok, so there are zombies in other games....but look at the blood lol, yeah, I'm a tard)
Biker dudes with baseball bats and guns
Dune buggies
And funky safari hats (with meat cleavers for the zombies)
But best of all
No F*cking Elves
So hopefully it works out for us.

That's nice...
Oh wait, were we supposed to care?
but... "no damn elves" got my attention... that alone would be enough to give a ago....
then someone referenced Fallout like game.... now I'm paying attention....
