VENDORS

I have read that you can have vendors within your city walls and you can invite other players outside of the City to trade within your city, so to all ex SWG players this is quite huge, no more auction house's, best of all the crafter is going to get credit and respect for crafting the items and being known about it unlike another game which id rather not mention were you put it in an auction house and nobody cares about the crafter.

But what are your views, do you prefer the Auction House, or the player made Vendor, i think the Vendor gives the game a much more business feel?

    Player placed Vendors FTW !!!

This allows you to factor in the "convenience" factor when pricing. In other words, there maybe some other player out there who has undercut your price, but the buyer will have to decide if the travel costs and his/her time is worth the cheaper price elsewhere.

If you keep well stocked vendors with fair prices, you will develop loyal customers who will actually pay a little more knowing that you will always have what they need.

Also, I would MUCH rather pay a maint. fee for my vendor(s) instead of the damned AH getting a cut from each and every item I list.

    Just my 2 cents.

It fits in some games, and doesn't fit so well in others. I personally, am a fan of NO Auction House because I feel for the crafters. I always thought crafters were disrespected in other game because in those game they had to go out and farm mats for hours, then go and spend time crafting something, then place it on the AH for less than the cost of the mats, and then give a cut of the money to the AH. Games like this made it not much profit, if even a slight loss to the crafters.

Games like this where there is no instant travel or fast travel prices may vary and you would never know who has THE best price, so people would go to all different towns and vendors. I just think player shops works better in a game like this.

I think SWG had the best idea, you didnt have to spend hours and hours farming, all you had to do was survey the areas were the type metal or liquid or alloy was found in the ground and you put a farming device, itslike a small drill that would constantly collect the metal until there was none left in the ground, this way you could be farming whilst offline, and lets face it farming manually were you just kill and loot all day is just boring, they also did a good job in seperating the quality of the matierial and moving it from place to place so you would have to check on the farming drills or whatever they called them.

I really hope player crafting will make a huge difference in this game. People with good gear should owe their respect to a crafter, not to some random MOB. It expands the universe beyond just killing and looting (as much as we all enjoy those) and attracts different types of players to make the experience richer for all of us.

As for choosing between player vendors or an auction house, I don't see why both can't be part of the world, even though I prefer the vendors myself. It would be "realistic" to have both.

I agree, I do not see why both could not co-exist.

I honestly do not like the idea of the Auction House, reason being is because the buyer isnt bothered about the crafter so the crafter dosnt get to be known or get any respect for giving it his all, also when you have a vendor you can create a shop in the city were if your city has enough crafters you can sell everything in a mall, which in hand gets your city known, generates alot of money, and when people get to know you keep a good stock of almost everything people wont have to go anywere else, and loose all this with an AH.

If you brougth an sword of amazing quality, a truely master piece, would you not try to find out who the smith was, and where you can find more of his wares?

Auction house doesn't have to be an WoW-like interface.

I vouch for vendors tbh, i find that system much better imo. I dont craft things in any games but in every game i played i always went back to my favorite vendor. Because even when noone would have the item i needed these people went out of their way to craft it for me or find the materials needed to make it. So i am one of those players who is loyal to crafters who have good service. In L2 i knew some people who would get me what i wanted when i wanted it...and those people i repayed well even if i knew it was slightly higher than the guy next to him. Why? cuz when i needed ANYTHING id simpyl call em up, ask for what i needed, he gave me a quote and the number of days (or hours sometimes) it would take for him to aquire what he needed; after that the deal was set and id pay him for his troubles.
