Ya go ahead and flame me, but after slaughtered monster since UO -97 this is a nice change ! A little advice tho, Lineage 2 is a really nice game but ruined by BOTs
Not my favourite choice but i can it been a good game if you just want to chat and hang out. Also i would say a sims fan should be able to blend in it well.
Not on my list of 10 best ever mmorpg but certainly did not deserve the rating of 3.6 it got on this site.
Lineage 2 is a great choice if PvP is important to you, otherwise no. I agree with no content, and you also ask yourself "what's the point?" alot unless you're gonna PvP
This question definitely has been asked before, but no hurt in asking again .
Just a while ago I was on a similar search looking to buy a good MMORPG that would be a source of enjoyment. In my opinion, and it's just that my opinion and not something you have to listen to , I'll take you back to my experience in searching for a game to play...
The first thing is I understand it's a somewhat difficult task in choosing a game b/c you don't wanna buy an MMO and end up not playing it and have to go out and buy another one... that's where my dilemma arose. I was torn between three games... FFXI, Lineage 2 and City of Heros.
Initially my choice was clear FFXI, b/c I loved the Final Fantasy series. The reason I didn't choose it was because of various mixed reviews I read on the internet and the sordid stories of getting teams together at higher lvls (some people waiting quite a while to party) as well as the fact that you have to pay an extra $1 for every new character you create. Adimittedly a small price to pay... but still, I'm paying $12-$15 a month to play, why would I want to pay ever MORE?
So this brings us to the choices of L2 and CoH. It was tough... b/c I really liked the concept of L2 and it's political, economical and PvP concepts. But many reviews on the internet lead me away from this game. The reason being... alot of individuals are complaining how bots are ruining the game. So many people have bots that the economical system is out of whack and there is alot of mission camping etc.. etc.. Albeit, if this doesn't bother you, it seems like a great game. Additionally, there wasn't a whole lot of character customization (probably b/c of the memory it would require to fight in those castle sieges etc...)
This inevitably brings us to the last game on the list, and ovbiously my choice City of Heros. At first I really didn't know much about this game but once I started reading the reviews and all the positive things people have said my interest was spurred. The character customization in this game is amazing. When you walk through the city you'll see heros of very distinct style and nature. You can put your personal touches on your character with sooo many options to choose from. So, this allows you to stand out from the crowd. As well the gameplay is easy enough to pick up and play right away yet has enough depth to keep you missioning and enhancing your super powers well into the game's storyline. As well there has been annoucement for the City of Villains expansion, which will introduce the PvP element into the game which will be exciting. Plus, the idea of a super hero or comic like MMORPG really appealed to me.
So far (which admittedly hasn't been long) my experience within the game has been amazing. The community is great. Teaming up with other Super Heros is the best way to mission (quest) and the environment is great. There are alot of neat features within the game and I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
Anyways, that's a long-winded synopsis of why I chose CoH. So far I'm glad I chose the game and I can't really complain. Even the tech help within the game has been speedy, efficient and very helpful.
That's it. I hope this provided you with some insight. Whatever title you play though, have fun with it!
Anarchy Online is good, but the shadowlands expansion kinda messed it up. I might give it another try now that shadowlands is less buggy. I had a lvl 54 agent and a level 50 something enforcer which I leveled pretty fast. It has a free 7 day trial also. AO is very complex and seems overwhelming at first but you get used to it. You should give it a shot.

IMHO Linage and Linage2. great RPG games. PlanetSide also, cept for all those damn bugs, and hackers, it's cool.
it's...scary. very, very, very, scary...the world we live in...that's why i love the virtual world.
If you want to try something new and exciting and use your imagination to the limit try Second Life. Only 10 bucks once. Can't beat that.

If you like PvP and don't mind the long grind then Linage 2 is god.
If you like PvM and GREAT Quests then Final Fantasy XI or just wait for WoW.

...Pika
Lineage 2 not a good choice unless u are attracted to really good graphics but nothing much in gameplay.
You have pretty much summed up the best ones in the original post.
Uglyyyy!
More cliche questions...IT HAS BEEN ASKED A THOUSAND TIMES RECENTLY AND IN THE PAST!
You won't find the answer here. There are way too many opinions. My favorite is FFXI.
Edit: I just noticed this is about Lineage 2...In that case I have no opinion.
