Should Turbine have used DDO's combat mechanics in LOTRO?

Just looking for people's opinions really as I play DDO and love the combat we have! Have not tried LOTRO (as am happy in DDO) but I have read that some people are not keen on the combat.

What are people's thoughts on this?

(BTW, Although I won't be playing LOTRO, I wish it all the success, I think Turbine are fantastic!)

Examples could be, 'no, i hate DDO's mechanics because..............(Insert reasons here) or 'I think LOTRO's combat mechanics are great because..............(insert reasons here)' but it's my own fault I suppose, this is MMORPG.COM after all and I should have known better really.........!

I'd like it. DDO didn't fail because of it's combat mechanics.

I would not like that.  I don't like twitch combat I think it detracts from the RPGness of the game.  Yes, in a PnP RPG you do it blow by blow, but it doesn't depend on my reflexes or fine muscle motor control, like DDO's system does, so I prefer the typical MMORPG system of combat, which LOTRO has.

I was merely being facetious because I had the first reply :)

I think that you will find most of my other posts here much more meaningful and well written.

My real opinion on the matter is that I personally detest any d20(or similar.. think rigid) system in a video game plain and simple. I have really never enjoyed any PC game based tightly on a PnP system(yes NWN and KOTOR included).

Now playing said games PnP is very fun :)

No, they shouldn't have used DDO's combat mechanics in LOTRO.

I think they might have improved upon it, but not used it exactly the way it is.

At first I liked DDO's combat, the more I played the more I hated it.

I would end up with carpal tunnel if I played for long hours.

I dont want Lotr to copy any DDO mechanics or gameplay. LOTR is fine. Nothing is wrong with it. I just dont want LOTR ruined by copying or have anything to do with DDO crap.

I found DDO's mechanics different, but I only played a short while.  I prefer LotRO's combat system right now, but mostly because its what I'm most familiar with....

I really liked DDO's combat system, so I would have liked it to be in LOTRO. In fact, I think I would be happier with a game somewhere between DDO and LOTRO.
