System Requirements

Heya folks,

this is directly from the TR Stratics frontpage :)
------

Yes, you are reading it here first, and yes, your eyes are not failing you: the Official U.S. Knowledge Base
of Tabula Rasa has recently resurfaced (select "Tabula Rasa" in the
"Product" menu then hit "search"). While still a bit devoid of gameplay
details, it has a very important bit of information: the very early
system requirements for the game !

Please note: the
development cycle still hasn't reached even an in-depth beta status,
hence the requirements may pretty much change in the coming months.

Here they are! (as of 07/21/2006):

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

* Windows® 2000/XP/Vista
* 512 MB System RAM
* 2.5 GHz Intel® Pentium® 4 or equivalent AMD™ processor
* 128 MB Direct3D and Shader 2.0 compatible video card and DirectX 9.0 compatible driver
* 8x DVD-ROM drive
* 4.6 GB free hard disk space
* DirectX 9.0c
* DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
* Keyboard, Mouse
* Broadband Internet connection

RECOMMENDED SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS:

* Windows 2000/XP/Vista
* 3.5 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent AMD processor
* 2 GB System RAM
* ATI™ X1800 series, NVIDIA® GeForce 7800 series, or higher 3.0 Shader compliant video card

    Hi Lucas,

    Thanks for the update

  • It's about time for MMOGs to move out of the little kiddie playground and into the big boy arena...these requirements are a little baby-step in the right direction.

    You guys saw the E3 trailers right? Just imagine what this game would look and play like if it had to use the current state-of-the-art PC gear...nothing short of astonishing I'll bet!

    My comp  will be 4 years old in November.   I'm squeez'n her for everything she is worth and so far she is holding up.

    I've got an old P4 3.06 with a gig of Rambus but I recently put in a 7800 GTX agp card to keep 'er alive.

    If I wasn't saving for a down payment on a house I would have gotten a new computer when the first video card went kaboom (radeon 9700 pro).

    My comp is also about 4 years old - its a athlon 2gig so it falls below the minimum requirements. And its been so long its not really upgradeable.

    However I have been saving so its a new comp for me, and this one will go to the kids.

    3 year old Pentium 4 @2.4 Ghz here, with a Radeon 9600 pro. I guess it will be sufficient to run the open TR beta (I hope there will be one ) at low graphics settings and see if I really like the gameplay. Once I find a game I really, REALLY like, I might be persuaded to get a new PC.

    Looking at the video card requirements, I don't need to upgrade my card right?

    I have an X800 XL 256MB  (shader model 2.0) which is below the recommended, but higher than the minimum, and I do not plan on playing at high settings.

    Over half a year since seeing this topic, Newegg sells very few of models of the recommended series now. Any initial  impressions I had that the game would need too high of a system to run are laughable now.

    System recommendations and requirements generally give a rough outline of what kind of system will be needed to run the game. That said I can really only say that you most likely won't need to upgrade to play this game at non-max settings.

    I think I need to upgrade, my PC is about 3 years old... it ran WoW fine but struggled with Vanguard.

    Card name: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5950 Ultra

    Display Memory: 256.0 MB

    You have plenty of ram, and a dual processor. So the only thing possibly under the recommended specs is your video card.

    So for Tabula Rasa the easiest upgrade would be the video card. You dont even need to go latest genaration, a Nvidia 9750 or ATI X1950 should handle it easily.

    Of course if you are planning to get a whole new PC anyways dont let me stop you. CuppaJo posted over at the stratics site to say it ran great on her 1.6ghz Core 2 Duo.

    It only one cpu, I copied and pasted from the DXtest doc... I think I need a major upgrade. I'll wait until TR and/or SGW are out before I commit.

    4.6 is actually about the norm for most MMO's. If you wanna see a system hog check out Vanguard.

    "If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike"

  • emdtemdt Member Posts: 325
    Yea, 4.6 isnt all that. GW is about 3gb less. WoW is about 8gb.

    Now VANGUARD, its about 20gb. Now thats a killer.

    Even so, that should not be a problem since most HD's anyway have 100+++++ of Gbs.

    oh man :/

    i will never have a PC like minimal rec ;P
  • _Shadowmage_Shadowmage Member Posts: 1,459

    I still have two like the minimal req. My kids use them.

    But you are right - you havent been able to buy a PC like that for quite a while, and by the time the game gets out - I expect most people will have PC's that meet the required spec.

    With the recent cpu price drops from Intel, and the fact that the required graphics card

    ATI™ X1800 series, NVIDIA® GeForce 7800 series, or higher 3.0 Shader compliant video card
    is what < $180 if you can even find one.
