be THE hero wagon

Most MMORPG jumped in the be THE hero wagon since Everquest came out but personally I just can’t feel any accomplishment in those kind of game were your limited to  class and level and the only thing you can do is killing monster or player and do some crafting. It’s repetitive and boring and I can easily do the same and have more fun and feature with a single player game. In a MMORPG I want diversity, I want to be able to be farmer for example and create my own story and quest in a sand box environment. I don’t need the developer to script me some stupid quest that makes no sense like go kill 10 wolfs  or more epic one like go kill this dragon when I know that 1 millions other players did this quest before me and 2 millions will do it after me, there is no accomplishment in a static universe like this were whatever you do the world stay the same.

UO was in the right direction but failed to do it right but I still have respect for what they accomplished. At least you can role-play in UO something that really does not make sense  in game like WOW Everquest and the like where you’re so limited in what you can do that your role-play is greatly affected. So much that I would even say that RP is disappearing and we should call those games MMOG instead.

EVE is good example of a dynamic  environment. There is still some boring scripted quest but the economy is controlled by the player and everyone can take part in the universe shaping it to some extend. In the mega war for territory between big alliance of players many ships are destroyed and need to be replaced so miner and crafter make their profit out of those wars and the cycle continue.

If developer were spending their time in developing a more dynamic environment for player to enjoy instead of scripting quest and big dungeon in my opinion the MMORPG would get better.(Of course there is limit to what the technologie and network can handle to make a MMO more dynamique )

Am I mislead or some people agree?

Static worlds mean stagnation, dynamic worlds evolution.

Everyone wants to be their own hero; be it Conan, Robin Hood, Bob the Builder or Han Solo. But in the end all we ever get to be is Don Quichotte.

Well developers make games to make money and games like UO and EVE aren't exactly dominating the market in subs compared to other games.

Yea i quite agree Static worlds where you cant have any real affect in it like affecting the borderlines of a map or actually making a name for yourself by placing a permanent structure such as a base for everyone to fight over, are quite bad. And i can name a few games that are stagnent as i can name some Dynamic games out there.

i would LOVE to have a game such as UO with modern graphics, yes skill based games are much more enjoyable than class based games,

Some of the aspects of EvE were good such as the freedom, but every spaceship game should be REQUIRED to be twitch based..... i cant tell you how dissapointed i was when i started the trial and realized it was click to move

True, but I don’t say that other game should be a copy of EVE or UO  neither just that dev should try to focus more on making their game more dynamic and interesting to play long term.

WOW for example is a great game for many but does not bring any thing that I don’t have already done in the multiple game I already played so I after a month I was already bored.

I understand tough why someone new to MMORPG or someone that is not yet bored of this type of game play would play it.

Its a great game and I would probably play it and enjoy it if it was my first MMO.
