AoC vs WAR: For the Casual Gamer

As the title of the thread suggests, I am currently torn between the two enticing titles Age of Conan and Warhammer Online.  I would love to play either one of these games, but I am a rather casual gamer, and I felt that this would play a crucial role in which game I decide to play.  Of the two games, which seems at this point to be less of a grindfest and more of a casual-player friendly option?  I really do not want to spend all that much time leveling.

I will be playing AoC when it launches but WAR sounds more casual friendly because they want war 24/7 and you level up from both pve and pvp. There are only 40 "levels" while in Age of Conan there are 80 PVE levels and 20 PvP levels from what we know so far. Neither game has any backing on how fast it is to level or anything like that so we can only speculate.

, hmm casual play eh..if i have one hour free to play a game then AoC because i would walk into a pub with my mean looking Barbarian brandishing his 2 handed massive axe and then get drunk and start brawling with whoever wants to get it on

age of conan.  no contest.  it offers more things to do than warhammer.  that should be enough info to say that aoc is better.

I think WAR will end up being the better casual game.

AoC might be aimed more toward the hardcore PvP audience.

I'm just wondering if WAR is going to Turn into what DAOC Is Now...I Guess, They put the Battleground zones in a PVE Area for a Reason

That's because AoC is in beta when WAR is still in Alpha/Company beta. And folks from AoC released more info about the game.

    WAR. Paul Barnett. Topic closed.

Hah, but seriously for casual, it would have to be WAR because I said so, but really you should go and check out the info on both of them, also remember some fansites have exclusive information so dont forget to check those out. But yeah, you should be able to make your own mind up based on information that is released over the coming months up until release, also you will probebly want to find yourself a spot in both betas for peace of mind.

AoC hands down from what ive read

Warhammer seems to be going for a setup just likw WoW only heavily built around RvR

the downfall of most games is that they target a certain audience

AoC will have lots to do, only the border kingdoms are FFA PVP, its not really a "PVP game" like many people argue.  Sure it plans on having PVP be a strong facet of the game, but it is more a game built around variety and having a multitude of things to do.

so for a casual player AoC is more desireable as it revolves around many facets to a game, rather than shooting for one particular market

WoW does this and it is one reason why WoW is a good casual game

Then, yet again, no majority of gamers are ever more appealed to games non easily accessible.

true true, the system specs are working against them there, but the fact that it will be on the x360 will help in that department

just for the casual gamer who wants to be able to log in for half an hour or an hour, variety of activities is key

(I myself am one of these players)

Well, I hope both, then I will play the one most casual-friendly and fun.

I am a lot more excited about WAR, though.

Wow, from those 2 half sentences it's obvious you've done 0 research on either game. Hell you even said so yourself about one of them...

So how you could make a comparison of any kind is ridiculous.

People who make absolute statements with no knowledge or proof to back them up. Like "AoC will be a grind". By that statement it's apparent you haven't watched any of the 2 dozen developer or gameplay videos available for viewing. And then you literally said you have done no research and have no idea what WAR is going to be like. Then come into a thread like this and post.
