Hi, my friends and I would like to play a mmorpg together but have found other games (DDO) have servers for each continent, making it impossible (even with the European version for me) to play together. Would this work with Ryzom? If so, how?

Yep you can, because, except the french and german servers, the other servers, Arispotle and Cho, are both international servers, english language based. Arispotle is the older, while Cho is less crowded. So it's very simple, you and your friends, just create a char on same server (i suggest Arispotle). There is only one version of the client.
If u want a fresh start with ur friends, choose Cho... Arispotle is full with people who been playing for more then 2 years and the usual whining beef with eachother that comes with that.
