My opinion about LOTRO.

Ok I read lots of topics on this forum about lotro, comments, and most people say this game is all the same, evryone compares it with WoW. They say character models are ugly, nothing new, stuff like that. Anyway, I started playing. Graphics are AWESOME, and so many quests... the introduction was ok, but the fun really started when I got in the Shire. You can play instruments, and when you press the numbers 1-8 your character plays a note, really fun. Lots of fun quests like gathering apples, fight rats in hobbit holes, deliver pies (avoid the hungry hobbits!), follow npcs, free people, lots of variety. WoW has these kind of quests too, but most of them are just travel/grind quests, which is BORING.  The quests in lotro don't get boring.

The npc's look just like players, and they don't say the same all the time, so I really got the feeling I was in a different world!

LotRO is a great game, I think it pwns WoW. It's cheaper.

+ Beautiful world, lots of quests, some unique things like traits, monster play, destiny points (bit like talents in WoW) and a great amount of skills (not as much as WoW, but I think WoW has TOO much skills). I haven't seen all of WoW, but I do know you have to give this game a chance. I'm only level 15 now and I love it. The beginning sucks, unless you go to the Shire.

- The only thing that's bad is the payment system. I mean, all these collector packs, preorder crap, founder systems is really confusing.

If you don't  compare evrything in this game with WoW it's really cool.  All my wow friends (including me) are gonna switch from wow to lotro.

Heya, I too am a player of WoW i'v been getting a bit bored with World Of  Warcraft, Everything is the same in it, and now that i'v been 70 for a while it's just Instances or PvP which aint much fun at all :( I'v decided to got to LOTR but i would like to know some peoples ideas weather i should or not, I don't mind if it's all the same because they will be new skills/races/areas/quests... So what you think?

    Preorder:

1.Gets you a ring with agility, and a cloak that speeds up healing and has a decent armor stat for the first ten levels.  My main and 3 alts all have the ring and cloak.

2A. Gives you a one time opportunity to subscribe for $9.99/mo

    OR

2B. A one time opportunity to subscribe for life for $199.95.

    3. Lets you carry your open beta characters over to release.

Best preorder deal I've ever seen. It also let preorderers start open beta a week earlier, but that doesn't matter any more.

I totally understand where you are coming from man....i finally stopped being lazy and made an account here i played FFXI for 3.5 years and that game was addictive then it just basically burned out for me i tried WoW but it has like no ATTENTION grabbing storyline and alot of kiddies like to spam because they are cool ....like many others...but anyway the point is im lookin for a game that is not like so insane that in order to get anywhere you have to play more then 5hrs every day (which is what i kind of liike about WoW because current issues of busy life style'NESS) .  But on the other hand im just looking for a game with good Graphics and good storyline and im a LOTR nut with all the movies and books and stuff.  Downloading LOTR atm 44% 2hrs left... but im just hoping this game has a nice storyline like the movie but also more of a storyline kind of Tolkein's storyline continued which is why i see many possiblities for this game having a very nice future hopefully i dont make it out that its not going to be im just lookin for a nice game to play and good story line with the graphics of course.  Well i hope you get that there are people out there like you and me just lookin for a game and this might be the one i hope it is for you but anyway i gotta get back to my h/w lol so cyall later.     <(~_~<) (i was a galka on FFXI FTW!)

Not the underwater animals, but certainly fliers.  There are several types in the Northeast of Ered Luin.  Hendroval, crebain are the birds, and several types of bat also. Higher areas also have them.

I don't know if the snapping turtles come after you in the water or not; they showed as red to me, and I kept my distance.

There are bats and birds you can kill plus stock flocks of bird that are there to add atmosphere to the game.

Hey , this has been a great open beta for LOTRO.  I am thinking of switching from WoW to Lord  Got 8 days to think about it.

Its those nice folks that escaped from SWG that have made a very playable and  faithful adaption of Tolkiens Fantasy Middle Earth.

( I knew that they could do it )

    Unaware of the Jestor?

I'd been in beta for about a month, and then I pre-ordered it. Here's what I think:

If you are not at all interested in the storyline, make a habit of not reading through the quest text as you are getting it, like to blaze through quests and levels and hit the cap quickly... I don't know if you will like this game but you will surely miss most of what makes it so charming.

I like MMORPGs for their gameworld and atmosphere primarily. And I just loved this one in that regard. It might play like a generic MMORPG in terms of combat mechanics, but "being in the game" felt absolutely different to me. It really felt like adventuringin a fantasy world. That's why I'll stick with this one.
