And not so much the world as the same frickin' linear quest paths that you must do to advance the fastest. I wonder if Blizzard has some big secret project, like a WOW2, or even better, a World of Diablo in the works.
Well there are not other similar games with any better quest systems. Sorry the "linear" stuff hasen't been solved yet.
And I stroooooongly doubt blizzard will make WoW 2 lol. I've heard their next project will be NOTHING like WoW. And I believe in that rumor. And then we have the StarCraft 2 rumor... which I don't believe in but whatever they are up to I bet it will ROCK.

Actually not a big fan of Everquest 2 but it has a far superior quest system that has character if your into the PVE scene. WOW's quest system is plain, straight forward rinse and repeat boring for me. Guild wars with the movies between different accomplishments is far more interesting then World of Warcraft ever was from a quest line story perspective.
Wow attracts by majority first time MMORPG players and its numbers show it. Those that desire complexity in a game won't be around for the long term. This game was designed for casual gamers and is why people like myself lose interest so easily. Nothing changes or evolves in WOW.
I've played a little EQ2 (to level 30ish), and all the quests seemed incredibly generic variations of kill x monsters or gather y monster bits. Does it actually get more interesting at higher levels? I was missing some of the variety of quests available in Warcraft - e.g. I never saw an escort quest in Everquest 2.
Well, although I miss being flagged as Undead instead of Humanoid, it has been a long run. I got bored a couple months ago after the expansion fell through for me. Either way, they still have a lot of people so it must work for most of them. What burnt me was the fact that even at 65 with my Rogue, I still felt like I was moving toward the wall once more. And without PvP rank to grind, I didn't see what I'd be doing at 70. Collecting gear? For what?
In any case, WoW has tons of players. If anything it's a social hub more than a deep game. Although my journey is over, I'll remember my time played fondly.
EDIT - TOTALLY went off topic. Although Starcraft: Ghost is off the table, I'll bet they already have something ready to go once WoW plays out. As much as I'd like to see Diablo III, I'd imagine they'd want to recreate the success (and monthly fees) of WoW. If only they had another wildly popular game to use...

Agreed. WoW will get old because of the type of game it is. All level-based games will get old because there is little room to customize characters, unlike skill based. I'm sure whatever Blizzard does next it will be amazing and their reputation has earned this type of respect. I just hope they get away from the WoW setting and explore more with Star Craft:)

Then yeah, you missed a LOT of quests...
EDIT: Just to mention, in your 40's, if you're lucky, you'll run into one of the most brilliant quests in any game I've played. Splitpaw is really cool too.

Its the lack of Blizzard response to the TBC release day servers.
When The Burning Crusade was released I rolled on Coilfang, one of the release day servers.
It has a 5 horde for ever 1 alliance ratio. I pretty much stopped playing Coilfang close to two weeks ago. I got to lvl 64 Human Paladin then pretty much stopped played for a few reasons.
I simply wanted to level all the way and play a Retribution Paladin, that talent tree is broken, lack of DPS in that tree. Loved playing the skills though, it simply was not competitive.
Lack of fixes for Battlegrounds as your levelling up for PUGs. With the horde to alliance ratio the game still allows 15 horde versus 5 alliance in Arathi Basin. 10 horde versus 5 alliance in Warsong Gulch. That was a new battlegroup with I believe 6 total servers to pull players from to fill the BGs. I hated Alterac Valley ever since they removed the NPCs. Anyways, it simply was no fun to play the BGs when you could never as a PUG get a solid group, it was fun while levelling up but past the lvl 20-29 range no BG was full on Alliance.
WoW has recently introduced new monsters, new gear, new PvP fighting and rewards (arena), a new world and so much more... no evolving is too strong a word but WoW is definitely growing and expanding. And if you couldn't decide what to do at 70 then your just kinda dumb because there's a lot to do at 70 like raiding all the new instances, or you can get an arena team going and get Gladiator's gear... It might get old if you feel like you can't advance, which I have felt like before but you can change that. And I agree with the quests pretty much being the same but how about this, if you can think of something better AND original, tell Blizzard, make your own game, or just shut up. I'm sure Blizzard is conjuring up some ideas but for now they'll keep it simple. Also, I've heard rumors about a Diablo 3 but could be fake, who knows.
