If you preorder online your supplier will email you the codes ASAP and you can get straight on using your client. You won't get the discs until the game officially launches on April 24th though. Mind you by then you won't need them...
yeah u can play in the open beta if u pre-order. but I would save ur money, i have it now, and will not be playin it when it goes live, but , thats just me. its a let down IMO, to much a cookie cutter wow style game. guess ill be keepin my fingers crossed for Potbs but to eachs own i suppose...

Definately each to their own. I tried it on pre-order with BIG misgivings (nothing else to play atm) and was so surprised at how good they made it. Yes its wow-style, quest wise, but with its own style and nice touches too and really rp friendly even on the 'normal server' I'm on. Having ordered it just to have a look round and something to do, the shock was looking at the clock on the first day and realising i had been playing for around 7-8 hours staight without even thinking about time. Thats gotta say something about the gameplay and tbh a couple of quid/insert currency here definatley seems worth it to try out.
Having said that, I did come to LoTRO from Vanguard so maybe my MMO critique skills are a little dented right now
Ya because I wasn't expecting much, and also having just come from Vanguard myself, this game isn't bad at all. It feels like a mix of Guild Wars + D&D Online + (insert any standard MMO name here)... but the formula works nicely.
