What a piece of crap!
I haven't even left the tutorial yet and I'm apalled! The controls are horrendous, the graphics are fair, the interface is a mess, and there is no way to delete and create a new character!
Wow. I thought it was going to be bad, but not THIS bad.

LOL!
I hear ya buddy. I had the same first impression. Did you try playing a mage character? You have to craft your own spells. That in and of itself isn't so bad but the inane song and dance you have to go through... waste of time and not much else. If I want to waste time running from one inane crafting place to another, I'll play "a tale in the desert"...
Have you tried cancelling your account yet? Hope you have it easier than I did, I had to wait 25 minutes for an operator to cancel.
Just another nail in the coffin...
well i've finally got arou nd to installing the client, however... loks like patching is gonna take as long as the client download did (
it looks like it's done about 5% in past 20 mins ((

Heh. I would always get some sort of bug when I created a character where I was locked into walk (not able to run) until I restarted HZ.
I'd have to say though that I thought the controls were one of the better aspects though. There's a fair amount of customization of controls (pages of options) and my favorite feature, the middle mouse button (or whatever you set it to) toggles A and D from turn to strafe.
I'd have to agree though that the interface is a complete mess. They have something screwed up about how they implemented text overlay or something because your FPS goes up dramatically when you have your windows closed. I'd generally notice a 6-12 frame increase when I toggled off windows, making the key indepensible when going through memory leaking towns.
well I finally got around to playing it last night, first impressions were not bad at all really, i did the training missions, the character animation is dreadfull but i like the idea of the skills system (going for warrior/mage myself, probably a popular choice). I wondered around a town (can't remember it's name now) and didnt see a single other player!? I did a player search on the server and it only returned 50 people, is that a max or are there really as little as 50 people at once playing?
Anyway, I totallee agree about the messy interface, thank heavens you can reconfigure most of the controls, alhough i find the mouselook a big, well , odd, too much inertia in the movement or something.
Overall though, it's certainly not put me off, planning on having a proper go at it today
first impressions, 7/10, it's just "ok" ya know.

Why oh why did they scrap their original ideas for the game? They could have had the most popular mmorpg on the market had they stuck with it!
I knew it as soon as the changes were announced. I knew the game was gonna tank. So sad...hope DnL doesn't do the same!
The game itself isn't too bad. And, yes, the player search is capped at 50. All of the controls are customizable, so you can modify it to suit your needs. I (cause I'm a serious loser and resist change whenever possible) changed all my setting to match old style EQ. The only thing that really irritates the hell out of me is the lag you get when you enter battle. You character performs an action, then the mob will sit there for a few seconds... then the mob runs into your character, pushes him all over hell and creation... THEN! the battle resumes. Frustrating as hell. Oh yeah, the crafting thing is slightly annoying too, but try to get to a server with a decent population. I started playing on the Twlight server back at release, but moved to Blight (the test server) because there were so many people that moving was becoming difficult due to the tremendous amount of lag. Since the economy is entirely player-based, Blight turned out to be a bad choice. Low number of players = shitty commodity selection. I moved back to Twlight now that the numbers have dropped to "Light" and I don't seem to have many problems. If you need something done, do a /who, enter your search parameters and then ask the crafter if they are available to make/create something for you. Granted, not everyone is helpful, but 9 out of 10 times I've been able to get what I want made. I may have had to run around and collect the resources, but, since mobs tend to drop same level resources, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting what you need. And that's coming from someone that would rather poke his eye out with a rusty spoon than craft.
