People stop playing World of Warcraft and act like reallife is something soooo special, I mean hello? what the hell have you guys done in the last couple of months or years that caused you to see reallife as something extra ordinary ?

you guys are so lost in your "World of Warcraft" , that you have lost the feeling of how nice it is for example chilling with your girlfriend or having fun with your friends and now after years of World of Warcraft playing, you finally begin to realise that instead of playing computer games, it is so much more fun doin something in reallife

and I think thats exactly the reason why many of you online junkies HATE world of warcraft sooo much, you guys give Blizzard the blame for your addiction and thats really a shame...

Blizzard made an excellent job with this game, which got almost 9 million customers and yeah I know many got multiple accounts and those numbers are not exactly correct but who cares?

even if they had 1 million customers instead of 8 or 9 it would still be the number 1 mmorpg out there and you online addicts should better think over your life instead of blaming the number 1 gaming company in the world for your problems...

    Somebody needs a hug...

First things first; what gives you the right to pass judgement on anyone? I love the fact that you choose to come to a gaming forum and try bash on the people who play games. Does this make a lot of sense to you? Or are you hurting for attention so much that you come here and start a post about why people hate WoW? I thought you were a student...don't you have a paper due? If I were you I would concentrate my time at school, instead of coming here and posting this garbage. Now go back under your bridge!!

    Different people like different things:)

I played WoW for about a month before getting tired of the gameplay, because IMO it isnt challenging enough. But alot of people do like the gameplay, and if they are having fun then thats their business. But it isnt a bad game for those who like PvE, its just a bad game for those who dont:)

I just ignore them too.
Are you saying that the only valid kind of post praising WoW is one that acknowledges its flaws?

No not at all. I am saying that when someone points out an obvious flaw in the game a lot of people just cant accept it. All you read is "WoW has 8 million people..bla bla bla"  Just because the game has a large number of players doesnt mean that the flaws that are mentioned dont exsist. People can bash WoW all day long I dont see any reason for me to try and defend it. On some parts they are usually right.

Like I said before WoW is a decent game if you can accept it for what it is.

Very good post, Thats what i feel to. These losers say the game sucks but they have played the game for 2 years.  Get real people just because you quit doesn't make the game bad. It's one of the best  MMO's out.  Im still playing WOW and find it the most enjoyable game out there so far. I have tried others but im not going to stick my MMOpeen out and tell you what i've played. You don't need to know. All you have to know is WOW rocks and you suck.

It's one thing to talk bad about a game. It's completely different to pass judgement on someone and how they choose to spend thier leisure time. He posted it to get a reaction...

Hehe yeah that would be silly way of dying "killed by a heartattack while reading forums".

Many times have i seen people go and say EQII is a rip off of WoW, ive ever heard the same damned things for Auto Assault. For godsake how can those 2 even be compared?
WoW is an overall good game from what i see (i have many friends who play it), at it certainly has had a great following for a long time. I respect the game and its players, until someone spewes utter crap in forums on in other games they decided to try.
Great post. I agree with you on most of this. That is the thing the Wowwers don't seem to get. They compare thier game against every other game out there when thier game itself has ideas from many of them. It has never innovated a thing and once they accept this, then the whole MMO populace will be better. It has most of the time, never been about opinions, it has been against the slander that they themselves have said towards other games. Yes, others have done the same thing, but, if you read a lot of these threads, it's the WoW community/Wowwers in general that keeps things going. I'm with Rehmes, I don't play the game anymore nor do I care about it. I play something that suits me more. This is how things should be. And incase you wondered on what game I was playing, I'm playing Everquest 2. I'm enjoying it a lot and not once have I came on here to say, "Everquest 2 is the best! It kicks the craft out of warcraft!" I think the advice the rest of us other MMOer's are trying to say is,(I can only speak for myself really), stop comparing your game to what we play and stop saying it stole ideas from yours. Not everything is WoW with everyone.  And not every game is WoW. And one last thing, I'm happy all of you Wowwers love your game. If you enjoy it, you should love it.

So it would seem that in order to stop WoW haters soiling our forums with their resentful diatribe, every positive WoW thread needs the following disclaimer:

"Warning:  Unless I explicitly state otherwise, you should not assume that is my intention to criticize your favourite game."

The thing is, an intelligent person will know this anyway.  Do WoW haters need their egos appeased by some kind of conceding statement that the game has negative aspects?  Of course it has negative aspects - no game will ever be perfect.  But you really need to give us better reasons for hating the game than simply due to the fact that we like it more than you do.

Telling us that WoW isn't a good game, on the WoW forums, claiming you're fighting ignorant fanboys who are preaching it's better than your games - when they are not - is wrong. Simple as that.

I will continue to address the baseless arguments and generalizations that WoW haters make about the game.  For WoW haters, here's a tip to help you fight your losing "battle".  You can do far more damage to an argument or idea if you use better words than "sucks".

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

i don't get it. Why do you people spent them on a game you don't like?

I mean, why spend time making post saying that you don't like it or even hate it?

  • LordcrapalotLordcrapalot Member Posts: 191
Again Recant you seem to forget that the samething goes for "WoW lovers". Ive resently recieved a pm from a "fanboy" because I said that I think that Guild Wars is a better game then WoW when compared to the fact that Guild Wars is free to play. I didnt attack him in any way at all, still he wrote a pm to me claiming that my opinion doesnt count because WoW has more people playing it then Guild Wars has. See my point? WoW lovers and haters are equally bad. IMO its very imporant that people understand that hate goes both ways.

Same reason why people speak out going ooh wow is so uber leet cool.  Because they can and some people are just seriously annoyed with the game they actually like getting flamed repeatedly by Wow fan bois for no reason other than to say WOW is so much better its uber leet etc etc.

Its just a back and forth flame war that'll never end as long as people keep purposely proding the subject to life.

Blizzard killed my parents, burned my village, and stole my pony.  They can all burn in hell.

This is a good question.  I stopped playing WoW cause I got bored, simple as that.  Still have a lot of friends in game, and have no hard feelings.  I just had enough for a while.

One thing that always amazed me though, when I played SWG and EVE prior to playing WoW, was the huge amount of hate for it.  It seemed like telling someone "go play WoW" or "go back to WoW" was the harshest insult you could lay on anyone.  It got so much heat that I honestly thought it must be a terrible game, and that I would never touch it.  But eventually I did, joined a fun guild, and had a blast.

One should believe neither hate nor love posts. As both are blinded my emotion.

You, as have a number of others, have missed the point here. Wow as opposed to TV, watching sport, talking etc submerges you into an alternative yet artifcial world. Most Mmo's that I have tried do the same (if not world then galaxy or universe). In this world people become (or play) characters and often develop completely different personalities to there real life ones.I hardly think that is a comparison to other pastimes you list. I've played a lot of wow and watched a lot of tv and a lot of sport in my life but tv or sport never made me want to watch it for 12-16 hours every day for 2 months, neglecting all social life, family and friends, like getting Rank 14 did in wow.

The point the guy was making, I believe, was that people are getting immersed or submerged in a world that isn't real and are neglecting other aspects of what is clearly a more healthy life and is perceived as a more normal social life. He was also stating as a secondary point that the game can't be as bad as some people say or it wouldn't be so addictive. In all honesty the guy has a very good point on both aspects albeit it wasn't the most of elegant of posts.

What he missed is that a lot of people that play the game don't have a great social life outside of the game. Numerous players probably don't have the option of a night in with their girlfriend as they've never had one. LOL.

shut up you self righteous p****, you dont know anyone on this site so who are you to tell them what their lifes are like, your post comes across as you being better than everyone who plays wow, when irl you are probably not and you need to feel good about yourself by putting others down....i say to you sir, get a life.

I'm sorry for making you angry like that, it wasnt my intention...

I dont think Im something else or something better and I play mmorpgs just like you and enjoy them... with "you guys need to" I mean also myself, since I know that games can be pretty addictive (dont think I didnt experince it by myself :) )

the point is that its not blizzards fault for our gamers to get hooked to a great game and spent lots of time on it..

One of the original points of the OP was that World of Warcraft isn't to blame for people neglecting their social lives.  It's a valid point.

What I didn't agree with was that playing WoW a lot was a bad thing, although what constitutes 'alot' is subjective.  If World of Warcraft is an evil, then I argue that it's a lesser of many evils in this world when compared with alcohol addction, drug addiction, getting into criminal street-gangs etc.  Not trying to appear holier-than-thou, just attempting to justify my 'addiction'. >:)

( Though for an addiction the fact I can stop playing for months at a time to play old-school strategy games might mean I'm just a gaming addict rather than a WoW addict )

People seem to forget that even though these virtual worlds are fake, playing MMOs is a form of "social life" - devoid of concerns about how you look, how much you weigh, what skin colour you have, how old you are, how much money you have, and so on.  These worlds elimate all the boundaries of the real world and lets to interact with people you would never interact with.  It's not a substitut, but a wonderful augmentation to your physical "life".

My name is Recant and I'm a WoW addict...

I hate wow... but its not a problem of mine.

And just cause 6 million asians love your game doesnt make it a good game. To farm gold effectively it takes alot of accounts. Hop on over to IGE and see they have funds available on all of the servers. How many servers are there? 100?

Ok so we have 100 servers lets just say, then we have 2 sides... so basically 200 servers. Lets say it takes a minimum of 10 accounts to farm the money needed to support IGE. So we have 20 accounts per server... thats roughly 2000 accounts... and thats a conservative estimate when you look at the fact these guys do pling, faction, gear, tradeskills...

I personally think IGE has a lot more than 2000 accounts but when you start comparing numbers like this its easy to see how WoW has such high numbers... not all of them are Playing... a lot of them are WORKING.

Blizzard isnt getting blamed for an addiction, they arent getting blamed cause the game is to fun, they are getting blamed for poor customer service, poor relation with the community, lack of contact, poor testing, poor implementation, and a host of other things.

Ever try calling WoW's customer service line? Last time I had to call them for a billing issue at 1pm on a Tuesday it took over an hour to get through. With a supposed 9 million customers... with roughly 90million per month in capitol you would think they could pay a few more people 10 bucks an hour to sit on a phone.

So I think your whole "People hate wow cause they dont go outside" is a bit off bro...

The reason that I dislike WoW is as follows:

    1) They carbon copied EQ, grind, raind, rinse, repeat.

    2) They added PvP as an afterthought and as such didn't balance classes with this as a regard.

    3) Repetative, gameplay.

    4) Lack of classes, they made classes too broad and general.

    5) The only innovative thing at all that they managed to do was bring out a game that wasnt released until it was ready to... The rest of the game didnt do anything at all innovative...

I am looking for a game that has some innovation... Now I played WoW for a time, leveled 3 chars to level 70.... I am so sick of it that the thought of activating it again nearly causes me to go catatonic...
