yeah, at level 20 you get a Death Bear, which shoots lazers out of its eyes and one hits enemies any level, you could be fighting a level 100 and it would still one hit the enemy

and then at level 50 you get an epic pet called"Holy Bunny" which is borrowed  from Asheron's Call, and its level 200 and does a huge aoe attack that one hits everything around it

I know that this may offend your sensiblities.. but have you thought of playing a pet class (Loremaster, Captain).

You're just stupid as hell. THINKING!? Do you know how much that must be organized before Cajun47 can start thinking?

First u need to put his head in a refrigarator (bleh, probably mispellt that), after that u must call the fire department and see that they are 100% ready. Then u must see that there is no person in 300000yards range from Cajun47. Be sure that every1 is aware that his head may explode and cause a nuclear explosion. Now, after doing all this Cajun47 can finally start thinking!

I agree with SupermanOX, play a class with pets.

The only mistake here is that they've called the class "hunter", they should've called it "Archer" to drive even more "omfg im hunter and i have like double handed swords and a pet and aoe spells an heavy armor, dude I'm so kool"-moron-kids away from the class.

Newsflash: The more of you disappointed, the better. I DON'T want to have WoW again, where every second player is a hunter with a stupid name and a 13-year-old with hormone overdose jumping all over the place...

Oh man, I dunno if you are being serious or not. But, I'll bite. Hunters don't get pets or guns. That's a different game. The mounts can be obtained at level 35.

    1. No pets
    2. No guns
    3. No chainmail

    Mounts cost 4.5 gold

    • 100 copper  = 1 silver
    • 1,000 silver  = 1 gold

Actually, I've really considered taking a hunter in this game, but the experiences so far drive me away from the class again. There are just too many Legolas ultra-moronic kids that play the class. It's a shame and it probably will be for the next 10 games to come ^^

    I play a hunter and I haven't been a teenager in over 35 years.

    Hunter perks worth mentioning.

    • Level 14 you get fast travel +15% running speed.
    • By level 50, hunters are the only class that have instant travel to major hubs in 4 zones.
    • Around level 20 or so, you get an emergency escape power that can't be interupted.

It's still the premium "I wanna be Legolas"-class, in every game. In WoW this went so far that hunters were no longer invited in groups, no matter if you knew them or not, you could almost safely state that they were immature roXXor kids. I guess that will probably change a bit in LotRO but not as much. It will still be the popular class (together with the lore master and the champion), and I absolutely hate playing popular classes; you see mirror images of yourself all the time and you are never really needed anywhere...

Sorry, although I like this game. I started to laugh :)

In this game you wont only have those legolarses floating around running and jumping.

    You will have:

Bilbos, Frodos, Gimlis, Merry Pippins, Gullums, Elronds you name it and you got.

Just hope that they from start will have a strict naming policys, so people won't whine.

Both those that have to change name and those that has to see the names.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

After playing up hunter, champion, guardian, burglar, and captain to 15, I have to say....

Hunter's aren't very good. They can do ok DPS, but can't tank at all. Their specials are...pathetic? The only good point about them is the run-speed buff. Captains do as good or better DPS, and have more useful buffs. Champions are just disgusting. Far better DPS, no downsides.

5 champions and a minstrel is probably the 'best group' in game right now.

You see? This is just another clone just like the rest of the games of this kind.  This is exactly why I didn't spend any money or time getting it. Although I could of pre-oredered it for just $5 just to try it.

Mounts at level 35.  Why is it that these games make players wait so long to acquire mounts? Other then Vanguard the rest are all the same. Not only do you have to wait til the game is almost over but then it cost  both arms and legs to get it.  While it's an improvement of 5 levels over WoW it's still making you wait. Meanwhile you have to spend time running back on forth on foot.

Hunters with no pets according to what I read. This has to be the only game where hunters don't have pets. You sure about this? Sounds rather strange though.

My personal opinion and I'm saying this judging by my gaming experience and by what I've seen so far in forums. This game may look good at first glance being it's something new and it's after a well liked movie line but after trying it for a bit, most players will see it's just another clone like all the games of it's kind.

Same old same old, and nothing else.

Hunters don't get pets, prolly because its the reason that class is so over-populated in all games in which hunters manifest the wet dream of every mmo-addict ^^ ...

And I'm asking again, what the heck did you expect. LotRO was never announced as a groundbreaking, big time innovation... It was announced as a PvE centered standard game mechanic solid MMO, and it perfectly hit this mark. So it's really not the game that cannot deliever, its you guys' expectations that don't fit.

Thats the big difference between other games and this one btw. Games like Vanguard or DnL promised heaven on earth and delivered crap in piles. So thats really disgusting. Announcing a game and delivering almost exactly what was expected is perfectly ok... everything else is a matter of taste...

    Not really.

But then again I also enjoyed those linear adventure games, similar to those in my signatures link.

There is also the lore in this game, the phantasy book(s) that ruled them all. And which they did more after the movies.

But ok theres is quests and there is monsters, you kill them monsters... etc etc.

/agree.  "Archer" would of been a better name than "Hunter".

no it shouldnt.. it SHOULD be called hunter cause of the skill set. archers are different and dont have things like tracking, and didnt really go out adventuring.. they usually stood at battlements and stood watch. you would have to take away so many skills if it was called just "archer"
  • TyrolerTyroler Member Posts: 97
Hunter should have ben named Scout or bowman
  • rictor51rictor51 Member Posts: 24

    scout or bowman, maybe

hunter is still the best cause the tracking is for beast only (great skill btw) and the other skills are more based towards hunter.

hunter definetly fits the description better than anything. archer, no way. scout, maybe but it more refers to humanoids being more of the main target.. bowman is a little close to archer.
