PCGamer Beta Registration - Help Please

I received a demo disc and beta registration key code in my lastest issue of PCGamer for LotRO.  What heck, it's free and I'd like to try it out.  However, after it installed, it not ask me for the beta registration code like it was suppose to.  Instead, it acts like it wants me to sign up with my credit card (which I won't do).

Am I missing something?  Or is this not really a free invite to beta?

    you still need to create an account with Turbine to log into the game but it didn't ask me for any credit card information.

    Thank you.  I'll try it again, maybe I clicked on the wrong  link and it took me to the wrong landing page.  I'm assuming after the creation of an account it will then ask for the Beta registration code and no longer ask for a Product Key code?

    The 'latest' issue of PCGamer? Are you sure? My latest issue (May) has a code on the back of the disc for an ingame item, an earring. To get that you have to be already playing the preorder game, which began on April 14th. I don't know why you'd be trying to install beta now anyway as it ended about two weeks ago. You can only get into the game now by preordering it.

    Yes, May issue for me too.  My disc is labeled, Open Beta Installer and within the magazine, they provide a 'beta registration code' .  Looks like we have different discs somehow.  My hope was to basically have a free trial period in beta.  I didn't realize the game has gone live.

    Are there any free trials availalbe?

    This is open beta for us PC gamers until April 24th. If you want to level up to 15 and then if you like, go live on the 24th then you best get going.  You only have a week before you are a  level 1  noobie surrounded by other Level 15 PC gamer players.

    When you go to my account on the turbine account site. You will need to enter the pre order key in able to create the account. The first thing you do is enter the pre order key then it will let you create an account. If you have the game installed start up the client and click on the account button at the top it will take you to the account creation site.

    Hope this helps you.

    Ya just plug the code on https://myaccount.turbine.com. The product key box is right on that page and the site should guide you through the account create process. It shouldn't ask you for any credit card information as it's free right now. If it's like DDO, you will be asked for the payment info when you put in your key from the retail box.



    Don't forget if you want to carry over your open beta characters, you will need to put in a preorder key first. Just go to the same site and put the key in the same field. It will ask you if you already have an account which at this point you should. Then it will ask if you want to upgrade, just say yes and continue with the rest of the process.



    Their product key activation thing is really cool. Hard to screw up :)

    Sign up new account second. 

     

    Free to play till 24th then youll have to buy.  Youll have 30 days after release to input retail code to get cool lower monthly price or lifetime sub.  Anyways, thats all I got.
