new to DAOC need some advice

I just downloaded DAOC's trail version. I am completely new to the game and I would like some advice to the game from the veteran players.

First of all, I know the normal server contains TOA expansion and there will be more grind to it. I am just wondering how much grind is it actually? Does it require raid  to obtain the higher end items? or a team would be suffice to do it?

As well, I was just wondering if there is a class in DOAC similiar to the warlock class in WOW

Thanks in advance for your advices and tips!

If you just downloaded the game, don't bother about TOA,  you won't survive there until about level 40. My best advice is to find a good guild, and get a good support group of friends :D

As for  Lock-like class, it depends on what realm you play. I never got to into the caster classes in any realm except Hibernia. The Eldritch is kinda like the Lock, good shadow damage.

Again, I cannot stress the importance of a good guild. They'll make or break the game for you...

    Enjoy DAoC

I loved it until I found WoW...

Yeah, WOW was fun for me. I had a 60 Shammy, Druid, Priest & Warlock... It was great fun until one day I realized that the daily bwl raiding was way too much for me, (nightly raid from 6:00pm-12:00pm with a 8-5 job & living with gf just isn't really working out for me). That was almost a  year ago... But I had great fun in both raiding and PVPing in WOW.

but that's besides the topic, thanks for your tip and I'll certainly try out Eldritch. (Eldritch gotta be one of the favorite word for H.P. Lovecraft...the final boss in a "buggy" temple in WOW was also from a Lovecraft novel, I thought that was kinda funny...)

If I were you I would stick to the Classic Servers Cluster. Don't bother with TOA and try to have fun.
