Is this game just a ripoff of Pirate King Online or is it made by the same people?

Its the same game, just two diffrent publishers. from what I understand, Pirate King Online is for South east asia, and Tales of Pirates is the North American version.

Over in asia its fairly common to license mmorpg:s, & each company licensing a mmorpg tend to use a new name (for the mmorpg) to avoid confusion.

For example Granado Espada has been licensed by one company & they use the name "Sword of the new world" instead.

For this pirate game I'm not sure which name was first, but its just different companies licensing the (essentially) same mmorpg.

Ripoff? pirate king online origin from King of Pirate online ( www.kopo.com.tw )

so pirate kinbg online a ripoff too?

btw.. im pko player. im playing at europe. maybe cuz by the distance, im always facing 1 or 2 secs delay in pko.  i tried at TOP and it running smoothly...

but i spent all my hearts on pko(3 sea com chars, 5 x lv 60 + chars).. so dont feel like to give up on PKO yet...

now i will check TOP often, see if any advantage event for me to start over. the server i playing in PKO is owned by high level guilds.. i think i stand no chance to hunt treasures....

See this is another good reason for TOP to hav been

created. Gives newer players the chance to make

something of themselves on the servers. I think it will

some day be better....they just have to catch, then

surpas PKO. Like I said before..they are still in beta

testing...and have still had a huge turn out.

i love to know what "huge turn out" means... because i dont see a huge game here. It has potential, but it's got a long way to go to even tap into Asia's MMOG market, let alone the US MMOG market being dominated by Blizzard's World of Warcraft.

A couple of thousand is pretty poor turn out... and for what they are offering in this game it's probably the most they'll be able to milk out of it. When people are able to afford the services being offerred, there are far better games than this which arent buggy, boring and bot-infested before it's out of beta

TOP does have a huge turn out for sucha  new game.  Already it has Thousands and thousands of players and it's only a few weeks old.  Not to mention put that many players together and you have a crouded world to play in.  So they added two new worlds aready to compensate for all the players.  It may not be as "huge" as WoW, but for something so new, it already has a huge base of players.

Emo: Kids who want to be different and individual, so they reform to the "Emo" persona. Just like every body else.
