Greetings. I am considering purchasing Nightfall, and would be an escapee from WoW. I was just wondering what the overall feel and playstyle is, in comparison. Recently WoW has become more of a 10hr per day grind in order to progress your character to remotely keep up with other players, and I am looking for something that rewards a relatively heavy player while not forcing a tedious grind to progress.
Many thanks.

GW is not a game of H&S, you need to think what to do. Rewards to heavy players...
There is titles in the game, and some of them are really hard to get (although titles are for pro players. Much of them).
There is no title that shows you are "pro" in any kind of way. It only means you have played for a long time or farmed the title (& in the case of xp-title that you havent died in a while).
For PvP there is the PVP-pack that unlocks all skills for one chapter but you cant play PvE (& you get to unlock runes & weapon bonuses with pvp-points).

sorry about that, when i said "pro" i've meant players who played some time and know the game. For PvP there is the PVP-pack that unlocks all skills for one chapter but you cant play PvE (& you get to unlock runes & weapon bonuses with pvp-points).
if u r the highest lvl in the game 20 then u should b pretty good, nightfall and factions u can do it in a couple of days. when there was only 1 guildwars and was much harer to get to lvl 20 u had more respect for those few players.
~`-Ups & Downs About: Guild Wars Nightfall-`~
~Ups~
~ Great PvP mode
~ Graphics are unbelievable
~ NO Subscription Fees; Just buy the game, download, and Play
~ Big World Map
~ Easy Controls
~ Long Storyline
~ Over 200 Quests(Quests do not affect storyline)
~ 6 character types
~ Get to have your own heroes
~ And More!
~Downs~
~ Max level is only 20
~ You don't unlock other side of world map until 1/5 game completion
~ When you go out to the forests or etc., only your party appears
~ Not that many weapons and armours
~ Hard to earn money on game
~ Etc.
~Conclusion~
I would rather have Guild Wars Nightfall than World of Warcraft

There are not that many weps and armor because you make your OWN WEAPONS AND ARMORS. You modify them however you need them. There are no real "uber I pwn you loot" but you find weapon modification pieces you add to your weapons and armors to make your build work differently. Nothing is plain "better" than other builds if you have a good plan behind it.

And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because *I* don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what *I* saw is ******* vampires! "
My spoon is too big -_-
As for the OP, the things that you will like more about GW is that it doesnt take a lot of time to be competitive whereas in WoW you have to spend 10000 hrs levelling up, then another 10000 farming for gear. Additionally the ability to make pvp characters ensures that you are never outclassed in pvp in terms of levels and equipment.
The main thing that you will probably not like about it is that the world is instanced. If you leave a town by yourself, you wont see any other players running around like in wow. While many people, including myself, prefer this feature, it is something that people who like WoW dont like so much.
In the end, wow is a game where time played equals skill and those with the most levels and best equipment will win, while in GW skill selection, teamwork, and the ability to use your build effectively determine the victor.

"Good plan behind it" lazy people like me dont really like doing that kinda stuff. thats my idea of why some dont like it.
However, once you hit 20, you will not have all of the skills. Once you hit 20 the hunt for elite skills begins and you won't get all of them until you finish the storyline (or in some cases, after you finish and make a serious effort to go get them).
There are alot of pros and cons with regards to Guildwars, the most important being that everything (except towns) is instanced. This can be a pro or con depending on your preferences.
Character customization (appearance wise) is rather poor imo, but skill wise it is wonderful. You can take the same character and set it up to fill just about any role you want at any given time (switching attributes and swapping in and out skills is free and you can save templates to easily switch around your character). Guildwars is great for people that are constantly tinkering with a character build. switching your secondary class is also easy (once you hit a certain point in each campaign, it's the easiest to get to in Nightfall imo) and can be done freely (for a very small fee).
Making gold is not as hard as some people make it out to be if you keep your eyes on the player auction market (through a number of sites). You're bound to run across something that will sell for alot to other players and when there is an event (like Wintersday) you can make insane gold (I made over 100p in 1 day this past winter).
The obvious downside (to some) to the game is that it does really require you to join a guild to get the full effect (it is call Guildwars after all, so you pretty much have to expect that already), but doing so is alot of fun. GvG PvP is a blast.
I hope that helps.
To Riotact007,
Though the current level cap for Guild Wars is level 20, Arena Net has told the general public that Guild Wars 2 will have a higher level cap and will be expected to come out sometime in 2008.
Many Thanks,

great posts here. my two cents: I played GW hard for months and loved it. Then tried WoW and found it tedious with slow combat. Went back to GW but couldnt wait for the 1st expansion so reactivated WoW for a bit. Then, I started to seriously get into WoW and didnt go back to GW afterall. GW combat is excellent, fast, requires a lot of creative build planning (can and do change often with no charge), and you can jump right into PvP if you like. WoW combat is slower, person with most toys usually wins, builds are not as flexible and cost money to change. But, in the end I found I preferred WoW's long leveling process and mostly non-instanced world. I found I was more invested in the "story" of my WoW characters because I had "been through so much" with them. GW gets you right to the action quickly, but I felt like the characters themselves were mostly action-based and lacked a story independent of the linear main quest path. So, if you like action with some story and character development - GW will be fun. If you prefer a long, drawn-out epic story that you have more control over, and sophisticated combat isn't the most important thing, you'll likely prefer WoW. Both games are excellent for different reasons.
Someone said this, but the single most important factor for me is instancing. I love being way out in the middle of nowhere, and running into another human player - maybe we team up, maybe we just wave, whatever. It really makes things real. All action in GW takes place in instances, so this never happens (unless they changed it in Nightfall, but I don't think so..I haven't played that one.) I can't see myself getting into an MMO that's all instanced. But, that's entirely a personal preference.
