i recently had an inactive account (that hadnt been used for playing for months) "locked" because i was apparently exploiting. their description of my exploitation was, as they said, using 3rd party programs to enhance my gaming experience and give myself an edge over other players.
think what you want, but in truth all of the accusations Blizzard made towards me a completely false. so in anger i sent them an angry messege with quite a few inappropriate words (which i think is understandable) and here is their response:
Greetings,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We ask that you please
refrain from using inappropriate language when communicating with
Blizzard Entertainment employees. Please take a moment to review the World of
Warcraft Game Master Interaction Policy at
http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowgm/?id=agm01721p if you have any
questions concerning acceptable forms of interaction when communicating
with Blizzard Entertainment. It is understandable that a player
contacting us may be upset over an issue stemming from an in-game experience.
However, abusive or foul language directed toward a Blizzard Employee
is both inappropriate and unproductive. Please resubmit your request
for assistance without the use of inappropriate language. Thank you for
your time and understanding in this matter.

Take a few deep breaths and calm down, then e-mail them again.
So, one one day I go to log on to WoW. It said my account had been banned and gives me a link. I follow that link just to se some generic page about why you could be banned. Luckly, Blizzard sent me an email saying I was doing illegal activities.
Naturally, I questioned them asking why I had been banned and what it is that I had done, since I hadn't even played in a week.
They respond by saying that they would look into my case, but my account would be unplayable until it was fully reviewed. A week later I get an email saying that my account had been revised. I was now PERMANENTLY banned for account sharing, which is irreversable.
So, I sent a heartfelt letter to them saying about all the wonderful experiences I've had in WoW since its opening days, all the people I've befriended, and all the guilds I've seen come and go. My final line was: "I truely have never shared my account with anyone, but if you won't undo the ban, then I'm just going to have to quit. I hope you know that you have taken away the one thing that has keeped me connected with people around the world and made me truely feel like I could help people accomplish many things. Thanks a lot for being jerks, and goodbye."
They replyed with this: "Thank you for enjoying World of Warcraft. We hope you have a wonderful day."
That and the standard GM info was all that was in the email. Friggin jerks.
LoL, that freaking funning.

ok, maybe i wasnt quite as clear as I was trying to be. I never really expected any kind of response after the email I sent them. But, is it not understandable to get pissed about getting an account perma-banned when I have done absolutely nothing wrong in the 2 years I played the game? I take that back, I did get a warning once for putting the word "douche" in Barrens chat.
What it boils down to is i just thought this was hilarious and wanted to share the comedy with everyone else. I havent had any interest in playing the game in a really long time and could care less about whether or not my account is reactivated. it is mainly the principle of the thing. That I got banned for doing nothing wrong. Still funny to me though.
Yeah it pefectly understandable to get piss when you are blame for something when you had nothing to do with it. It also funny to see how blizzard would handle these situation too. If this happen to me, I would pretend I was Eric Cartman and try to manipulate blizzard to give me back my account. For the principle part, who knows what to do. Blizzard claim that they banned 500,000 hackers, but how many of those numbers are a mistake?

In fact, Blizzard probably has one of the best customer services ever.
Why?
Because the employees are not bound by "The customer is always right" and are allowed to give you the finger for being a twat.
I'm glad for it, makes me happy to see that there's someone out there who, despite having a underpaid job and a crappy future, dares stand up for his right to be respected.
The MMO era has brought a horde of knitwits who think they're entitled to treating anyone any way they want.. (BARRENS CHAT!)
And, thank god, there's someone out there who dares give you the finger and treat you the way you deserve.
To quote Russell Peters.. "Parents, I really need to go through this with you... Please. Please! Beat your children."
Edit: And as a sidenote: I've been banned no less than five times from WoW (Tooouuureeeetteeees...)
Yet I've gotten my account back every time.
How? Because I knew better than to talk crap.
I talked it through with them in a mature manner and was friendly all the way though, and with that got what I wanted.
A steamroller isn't the best way to open the door.
Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
It all sucked.
That isn't good customer service, it's actually on the level of SOE.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
In reading the OP and some of the responders, I am amazed at the posture people take when they violate the rules and then get caught. For those of you who are still uninformed :
It is a violation of your contract with Blizzard to let *ANYONE* (outside of a minor child) use your account. It is also a violation to install your software on multiple computer systems.
So, if you get caught and banned for violating the rules, to bad.
And, please, don't claim you were not sharing your Account out.
It is pointless to make such a claim.
I'm not here to knock WoW. I actually play the game and I have contributed positively to a number of threads on this discussion board. That doesn't mean I should be forced to say "WoW is perfect and the sun shines out of blizzards ****". Like any other game, WoW has a few faults, some of which have been addressed and some of which have not. One of the most prominent is the lack of good customer. My general experience is a succession of stock answers and then if those don't work a succession of cheap attempts to just get rid of you (e..g. "Reinstall the game and spend several days repatching it - see if that helps" is one suggestion I received recently).
Having seen what good customer service is like from playing Ryzom (which has it's strong points, but isn't nearly as fun to play as WoW), I have some idea of what good MMO customer support looks like. WoW doesn't have it.

"Everyone trys to bloody exploint in all games to get an adavantage"
interesting theory you have there. however, very incorrect. think what you want, but just to clear things up... I haven't even gone as far as downloading mods (such as cosmos, or titan panel), not because i dont think they would be nice to have, but because every single patch people are flipping their lid cause their freakin mod doesn't work. I dont want to spend 2 hours trying to get my interface fixed when I could be off just playing the game.
People seem to think that just because someone is unhappy about a certain aspect of WoW, they are just here to make everyone think the same as them. for a long time i seriously thought WoW was an amazing game, and honestly it hasnt lost that (as far as the game goes),... with the exception of the Burning Crusade X-pac, which was a total let down. but the people that are running Blizzard are a totally different story. I don't dislike the game at all, its the people running it that piss me off.
This thread has turned into much more than it was intended to be; which is just shared comedy of the irony of the situation. I am sorry that some of you can't see passed the WoW haters and realize that.
