I've signed up for eveonline recently because I have always seen it at a steady 8.x on the mmorpg scale, and i enjoyed freelancer, so though "what the hey". MMORPG communoity can;t ALL be wrong.

So far its a fairly absorbing game...but does anyone else think its really expensive?!

I mean...seriously. 15Euros a month! thats a lot!

And for what? Sure the game is quite fun to play...but the agent missions are all the same, unless you are fairly uber you can;t really play low-sec pvp.

Another thing...[although I am NOT part of a corp yet...so don;t take this comment to heart], there may be 20-30 thousand players online, but I've never felt so alone in a MMorpg.

Where are the spontanious groups you;d form in other kinds of mmo?

I enjoy it. And i suppose the next step is to look for a nice Corp to join.

ya 15,-EUR is a lot, but what can we do about it? after all, I think it's worth it (and when you get rich, you can pay for the game with ingame currency! now just to get rich )

you can also pay in dollars, this works out at about 2/3 the cost, but have to use game time cards.  There is a page on the official eve-o website that gives lots of links.

I use gamegoody, cause they also sell ISK and while I never buy the stuff. I know that it gets right up the noses of the anal geeks that play the game.

After a few months in Eve you can make enough isk to pay for your equipment and pay for Game Time Cards(GTC). It usualy takes me 1/2 to 1 day to make enough isk for a GTC for 1 month so its not to bad.

Look for a corp and don't be too worried about not being UBER to go out to 0.0. Being able to fly a BC with a half decient tank is really what you need to worry about in order to make money out there. besides that being able to fly frigs and cruisers in pvp will work just as well in most cases as flying Battleships and battlecruisers.

The issue about spontainous groups isnt inherent only to EvE....though EvE itself doesnt reward group play for pvp purposes extensively. Complexes may be one of those things you can group for but for the most part people dont feel obliged to group together unless they are part of a corp.

The real problem with this mechanic is the inherent nature of hardcore pvp games. Across the board you will see that in hardcore pvp games people will team less and less with strangers and rather party with clan mates etc. Everyone is the enemy, and in a game like EvE where pirating, and scams are a perfectly legal way to play it makes people wary to accept invite from strangers to go out and pve.

This isnt necessarily bad imo....in the long run you create a tight bond with your corpmates and thats something that makes this game fun. I suggest you seek a group of players with similar interests as you and do your thing. Low sec pvp isnt reserved only for the high sp players my friend.....tactics is where its really at. If you dont feel your competitive enough get your corpmates to help you out. EvE isnt much of a solo game....its very group oriented.

That said i hope you enjoy the game and accomplish what you set out to do.

yeop your right it is alittle over the average mmo price.

so there must be somthing very special to this game right?

    and there is

eve got its own TV channel with a LARGE pvp turney going on. pretty much like watching football with speakers and guests in studio and so on.

in my eyes this eve tv equal's the extra money.
