Can my rig run VG?

I know this question may be asked a lot, but I honestly need a new game and based on whether or not I can run it is whether I'll buy it or not.  I am definitely getting LotRO, but want to give VG a shot because it looks more difficult than WoW.  WoW got too boring for me and it honestly is an easy game.  VG and LotRO both look full of mechancs that I'll like.  Thanks.

I have a very similar system.

    Dell P4 3.0

    1.5Gigs ram

    Nvidia 7900 gs

I ran VG with mixed results. With the graphics turned up (but not maxed) some parts of the game ran with 50-60 fps and others ran 10-15. It seemed pretty random. I'd be outside with tons of mobs and trees and get an awsome Frame Rate, and then i'd go in a small room and get like 10-15 for no apparent reason.

I concluded that the harware i was using was good enough for the game, but the game was buggy as hell, so I unsubscribed. This was in january though, so they may have fixed the bugs since then.

    They'll never get another dime.

You should be ok.  Game runs fine on both my computers.  The specs are as follows:

    3.4 duel core

    x1950pro

    2gigs of ram

This is my grouping computer I have very little issues running vg with it.

    2.8 duel core

    6600 nivida

    2gigs of ram

Now on this one is mostly tradeskills and harvesting.  I do have issues with the fps due to the card and the lower processor.

You should be fine.  I personally like the game, and have been playing since beta 2.3.

Short answer: Yes, it will run.

I started out on VG with a weaker rig than yours and ran fairly well on 'high perormance' settings, and currently I play on a top of the line rig and cruise around nicely on 'highest quality' settings. So I think you will find a sweet spot somewhere between those 2, probably on 'balanced' settings with some bells & whistles on (but most off), and get an avg fps of something in the 25-35 region.

The last 2 patches have included improvements to performance on the high and highest performance settings, so that is also encouraging.

Just curious...what brand/speed is the RAM youve got there?

yea it will run it. The "imporvments" made for High/Highest Performance just turns down alot of feature more. AT high/Highest Performance the game is gonna look like crap.  At these settings expect a blurry, dull mess.

I think you'll be fine -- esp if you keep it to a "balanced" setting. You might even have some luck running on the higher quality settings.

Should be ok, running on balanced. Wich is quite good graphicwise.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

OP, you should be able to run this game just fine, but you won't be able to use the highest settings.

This is my rig, which I bought recently:

    • AMD Athlon X2 5600+ (AMD's "dual core")
    • 4 GB RAM
    • nVidia GeForce 7600 GT (256 MB)

I can run the game on this rig with very high settings, but even this rig doesn't seem to be able to run it at max settings. At least not with playable performance.

There are still very obvious and veird bugs in this game. In the newbi area where I am (forgot name, but I'm a Human Paladin), a few NPCs are standing halfway up on walls and halfway INTO them as well. And when I try to buy/sell from NPCs, the menus appears huge, as if the resolution is too low, before they are scaled down to correct res/size.

Btw, latest patch (Build 1809), was today, and didn't fix these issues.

I'm not surprised you cant run it on max settings...your Graphics card is below par. Your system is the near equivelent of a high performance car with 13" wheels. Great CPU, more ram than you need (unless you play the game twice at once), no mention of your mobo, all let down by your GPU. An Upgrade to a 7900 series, 7950 or 8800 series will put your pc in perspective.

In answer to the original post, the game will run fine. Set Default Balanced settings (which are more than enough), and emerse yourself in the huge world of Vangard. Enjoy!!

I agree with him, maybe changing your video card in a newer one you can experience the game in higher settings... but it's all up to you if you want to spend lot of $ just to play a game in higher quality ;)

In you I would wait until your currently video card gets really old...

Norway's cheapest online store, 8800 GFX cards:

    • Gainward GeForce 8800GTS 320MB GDDR3:   $430
    • XFX GeForce 8800GTS 530M 640MB XT GDDR3:   $625

    Can't afford them, I'm broke

r3dbull, thanx for trying, but it doesn't help.

The only one of those GFX cards which has shiping details for my country, is the x1950. Importing single items from the US can be VERY expensive, especially since shipping fees to Europe are extremly high. This one will cost $418 total, incl shipping, local VAT/taxes and handling, and that's too expensive.

I don't know why US web shops has those insane shipping rates for sending to Europe. A single DVD is often $30+ just for shipping. The shipping fee for this x1950 card is $50, and those who lives in the United Kingdom, will have to pay a $70 fee for the PNY-XLR8 card...

I guess I just have to start saving, and buy it here. That would also be easier if there's any warranty issue.

    OP, sorry for the off-topics

I wouldn't consider a Dell a gaming rig... but maybe you will be able to play it.  My advice would be to stay away from VG.

Why does so many ppl dislike VG? Sure, there are some very obvious bugs I've noted after just a few days gameplay, but nothing severe. So far, I think this looks like a very good game.

The XPS line was specifically put out there for the high end users.  Admittedly, it's not the top of the line, when you consider the best FSB you can get is 677mhz where you can put up to 1066 into a machine you build yourself but you don't get get all the support in the self built machine like you do with the Dell.

The new patch wich was done last week SIGNIFICANT improved the performance of the game. It runs really nice now and looks great on my machine

    Athlon 3500

    6800GT

    2gig ram

offcourse settings arent maxed at all, but its playable and viewable :)

The biggest bug was that they included to high high quality settings.

    It should have been.

    Highest quality - Remove

    High Quality - Remove

Balanced - Rename to High Quality

High performance - Rename to Balanced

Highest performance - Rename to Performance

And most of the performance rants would have gone away.

    (Note irony and sarcasm.)

You do not have to run at the highest setting if your computer don't grant it to be done.

I have a very similar gaming rig (I have the Geforce 7800 GTX with 512 MB Ram, dont know if you have the same amount of memory but if not it shouldnt make a great difference).  My cpu is an AMD +3500 and also have 2 gig of Ram.  You can play this game without any big stutters :)
