I am curious when someone will bring a game out that has the feel EQ1 did at release through velious. Im sure there are a lot of you in the same boat as me. It seems like theres a lot of people out there who miss eq1, and have tried every game looking for it. Has anyone heard of any new games beginning production as of late? other then WAR, Conan, ect.

Not that I have found. The EQ1 progression servers were okay for awhile, but the power guilds are progressing the game too quickly and soon the progression servers will be regular servers. I have not visited the web pages in awhile so I don't know if they have progressed beyond velious or not. There was some question as to whether they would stop progressing the servers at Velious.

It's just me, so open the door.
Its a constant theme really, and so many players want to go back to the "good ole days", when MMO's (usually their first or 2nd) were so much better than today's offerings. Its not just for EQ1, look how many folks wish they could go back to UO pre-trammel, SWG pre-CU, DAOC pre-TOA (classic servers) etc etc.
What I find though is like everything else, they really forget all the bad stuff that was going on in those games as well. There's a reason developers make changes, its to respond to a perceived need of the user community to change something from the current gameplay.
Whether people realize it or not, we all have matured as game players over the years, and our tastes have been refined by the game we have experienced.
In the long run, if anyone were to release an updated EQ 1 today that only dealt with graphics, you'd find few people would really enjoy playing. DAOC is a great example..when Classic servers came out..a huge flood of people went back... but after a year or so..populations are falling steadily and will never reach the glory days when they first opened.
No, you just have to accept the fact that the past wasn't as good as you remember it, and it isn't likely that you're ever going to get a chance to re-experience the "magic" from those earlier days. That does not mean you can't have fun with today's games.... but it will be a different experience.

I to miss the good old days of eq, but i also remember the constant trying to find a group, spending 4 hours a night playing, and the fact that i just couldnt get in and play solo and have fun. What i loved about EQ was the community, my guild was awesome when i could get a group in it, i also loved the camping aspect and pulling and everyone had their own abilities they had to use or the group would likely be put into more danger.

Why isn't it acceptable to be unique?
If you want that fresh feeling, that new feeling of adventure and wonder, then doesn't it make sense for the game to be different than any thing else out there?
When EQ 1 was released, did it "feel" like Final Fantasy? No, I dare say not! It was unique.
Look for the creative when judging games. Try not to compare games with the idea that any 2 games have to be alike are feel as though they are the same.

Really curious, just what did EQ1 offer that has not been improved on a thousand fold by current MMO's?
When you get down to it, EQ1, while being the predessor of many of the MMO's out today, certainly had it's major downsides.
While it was fun to play when it was released, it was only fun because it had very little competition.
You will not see anything like EQ1 on the market because not many would play it, it would be a very small niche market.
As it stands, old timers do not need a new and fresh EQ1, they need something entirely new and different.
