Tabula Rasa -- What do you think?

Tabula Rasa is a MMORPG in development by Destination Games, with Richard "Lord British" Garriott on board. What do you think? Is it going to be the next big thing? I keep hearing all about WoW, but in the sci-fi genre, Tabula Rasa looks quite interesting so far.
No MMORPG.COM forum for Tabula Rasa yet, so let's talk here.

Honestly: I don't think we can say if it will be good or bad by now.
There's not much to be seen right now. The idea behind the game sounds interesting though.
Lets keep an eye on it and hope it gets a great game instead of "just another MMORPG".
I think it sounds like a great game but it looks like its coming out at the same time as WoW and EQ2 which might make things interesting.
I want to try all 3 so I hope they are at least a couple months apart.
From the inside out is the approach to the development of this game. Lord British and company are addressing everything that is wrong with most modern MMORPGs. While nothing is perfect, there's nothing wrong with a good foundation. Garriott's ability at world building is awe-inspiring, so that's a definite advantage.
Everquest II and World of Warcraft are hyped to the moon. Will they live up to all the hype? These two are fantasy MMOs. Tabula Rasa is a sci-fi MMO, therefore not necessarily in direct competition with EQII and WoW. This year promises to hold a grand showdown of MMORPGs.

god i hope not like WoW played the game sucked cloner eq2 cant tell for sure ill have to look in to it
it actually looks pretty good but i heard ncsoft was doing there dirty work on it just like they did on L2 cryptic stuidos showed ncsoft how to make combat but ncsoft failed to realise it through guild wars though unlike L2 guild wars had multispawns well when you play pristontale and you get in a HUGE spawn it ups the adrealine and thats what i like
anyways hope this is a good game it be aswome i go both ways with sci fi and the D&D ways of a sorcer and a bloody knight with that cool armor and sword 
a job of a lorer is to preach the history of chaos with out the lorer of chaos all would be in chaos

2004 is indeed one of the biggest years for MMORPG's yet. Too many good ones coming out

Anyway, it's still early for me to say how this is going to fare, it certainly has potential, we will see what happens in the coming months

Just downloaded and watched Tabula Rasa trailer from the link Dusty. I have to say it looks interesting, but it is too early to tell yet if it will be the next big thing or not.
Some of the graphics, esp attack affects and lighting, looked good. While, other graphics look dated, such as the back drops in the scenery, but it is good enough for me if the game play is good. The back ground story is a good idea. Reminds me little bit of Babylon 5 and if the Shadows had won against the Alliance.
There needs to be a good sci-fi mmorpg that involves more than flying around the galaxy in your ship or based off of Star Wars. Not knocking Star Wars so don't flame me k. Just would like to see something more original or different.

tabula rasa translates to "blank slate" in latin. i took a wee bit of latin this year

Someone correct me if I"m wrong but isn't Tabula Rasa going to be yet another NCSoft game. From reading other forums NC doesn't seem like the "most attentive" company in the world. That is, it appears they have some major customer support issues and a few other issues also.
If NC is the company then logic dictates that if you're having issues with one game (Lineage2) why in the world would you not only release COH, but Auto Assualt, Guild Wars, and this?
Maybe it's the old addage that if you throw enough crap against the wall something's bound to stick.
NCSoft isnt developing COH, GW, AA or even TR, They only developed L2.
Wat NCSoft do is publish and as a publisher , they dont actually poke their nose into every game tat is developing under them. L2 may be a flop but COH is doing great right now and its NOT developed by NCSoft, they only publish.
So just because publisher is bad, you say the game is bad tats
Unless the publisher is the developer like in the case of L2 then its pretty much true
Why do people play game to cheat?
Lineage 2 has more subscribers than CoH; so Lineage 2 couldn't be considered a flop. Lineage 2 caters to different tastes - not mine of course - but there are plenty of players out there who enjoy the game for what it is. More power to them.
