Dont get me wrong, I love pvp as much as the next guy, but do you think they will have a few PVE fights that have you fighting some large creature?
In the Public Quests, which aren't instanced or anything, they've shown that there are quest arcs which lead to a boss creature to fight. In one of them it's a Chaos Ogre.
If you're not familiar with Public Quests, you'll have to look them up. The short version is that they're quests that are triggered by being in a certain area of a zone, and everyone within that area, no matter if they're in a group or solo, will be able to contribute to the quest and get rewarded proportionally to the amount of effort they put in.
They've also said that "parts" of dungeons will be instanced battles with large monsters.
This is probably all out of date, but it's what I remember.
So the short answer to your question is Yes, they will have you fighting large creatures in PvE fights.
--------------------------------------------- I live to fight, and fight to live.
For me, it is a real solution to many issues of fun gameplay and having a zone if not server-wide sense of community. Further, I think it also helps with people (like myself) that do not enjoy grouping and particularly detest LFG/LFM.
I am just really thrilled.

Seriously, is there any way I could play the game RIGHT NOW?
As i know there will be no real raiding in WAR (expect raiding towns). Its a pure PVP Game. Just watch the official Movies they give you some Hints what you can expect.
Public quests, I have to say I have never heard of them before reading this post that I can remember. I like the concept and the thinking behind it.
Closest thing I can think of to public quests, would be quest systems that allowed you to share the quests you had with other party members so they didn't have to go track down npc's to get them.
nm. just deleted the last bit off. I get it now... seems interresting.
the answer is yes, the game is based off of raiding. The attraction to this game is you raid the enemies lands and destroy them.
Will I be able to lock myself inside of a dungeon with 40 other people and kill computer controled monsters to attain better items than normal people would have?
There will be small group raiding content (PvE ) according to Paul Bernett. Mythic will stay clear of the 40-man kind of raids as stated. I think that's the right choice to make, because it really speeds up the game ( no need to wait for loads of people to show up at the raid area).
There will definitely be PvE, and there will definitely be large mosnters events(they remind me of CoH's Giant Monsters more than conventional raiding.)
They haven't come out and said it, but it definitely seems there will be raid scenarios. I think they're afraid the backlash that would cause because most people think "forced raiding" when they here "there will be raiding". Raids will be about 20 people and won't reward the best gear in the game. It has been said that PvE Raid gear will be able to match PvP raid gear.
Alpha is just plain wrong. A lot of people confuse "RvR Game" with "Pure PvP Game". There will be PvE but it will be RvR themed. You won't just be culling random monsters, you'll be helping you faction in some way in PvE. Examples have been kill vultures who are eating your factions 'trophies'(the corpses of their fallen enemies) and killing squigs to win over Giant who then goes on to smash the other factions to bits.

The answer is an emphatic NO
Thank goodness. Let's hope not.
I really do not know many (if any) people that enjoy those zerg-raids to get an upgrade for a helmet, or a pair of boots, etc.

Alpha didn't put it over correctly so let me try.WAR is a RVR-PVP-PVE mmorpg in that order. This does not mean PVE has been forgotten,on the contrary PVE is Very important to the WAR effort.Every quest you do in WAR,every mob you kill will have some connection to the ENDLESS RVR WAR.
You could say WAR is a Pure RVR-PVP game with PVE quests that are in effect PVP quest if you get my meaning. It all boils down to the WAR effort, not to open a new instance together but to constantly kill the enemy.
People who just want to PVE will be important for behind the scenes in the war.The people with the bottle to face the enemy head on will become heroes in a world where PVP rules.

The not completely true either. They've alreayd said at the begining of the game two thirds of the content will be PvE. And even at the end game, one third of the content will be PvE. It just sound to me like you're trying to say there's going to be litsy bitsy amount of PvE that isn't really going to matter, and that's not what the Debs are saying.
Once again, RvR does not mean PvP. Yes, the PvE quests have you competing against the other faction but you aren't directly opposed to other players and you are fighting computer controled enemies. Once again, this will be at least 30% of the content, which is a deccent sized chunk in my opinion.
I'm mostly just trying to say that there will be things for the "behind the scenes" type people, or even people who want to stop and just do PvE for a little while. You make them sound like an abused minority. I think you're misreading and warping that scenario info. I'm pretty sure he said that to be thematic, not to make an anti-PvE statement.

I am not misreading or warping anything, its there in black and white from Jeff Hickman himself.Like i said Every quest you do or mob you kill will have something to do with the war effort, thats a fact.End-game is 20%PVE-80%PVE-RVR.At the start it will be 80%PVE-20PVP-RVR.
Some races start there career in the middle of a war zone, from the word go you are helping the war effort.
Do any of you who have followed the game closely have any dev quotes which would shed some real light on this subject? Because I see a lot of people saying that PvE raiding won't be in...or saying it will be in but there won't be any reason to do it, and stuff like that.
But is that just wishfull thinking or have the devs actually said that? I mean just because you saw a post by another fan who said the game would be a certain way it doesn't necessarily mean much. What have the devs said about this.
I hope that it won't be yet another game centered around PvE raiding but I can't say that it won't be because I have nothing to back that up with. But I haven't done a lot of research on the game so I can't really say much about it at all.
To this company , a "raid" is getting 40 people together to take on a major monster in a dungeon that happens to connect 2 enemy zones, thus adding the chance that you will eventualy get rolled by an enemy raiding party.
I loved the balance of daoc. the best armor you could get was player made. The only thing you had to pve raid for where things like trinket, and ring while things like Belt and Neck would drop from rare spawning mobs or insanely long but soloable quest. so the majority of the game would have around the same gear level with the player crafted armor which didnt matter anyway because the game had stat caps so your primary 3 stats could be maxed anyway with normal armor.
Well I did a quick search (okay to be honest it was rather long) to try and determine the scope and how WAR will deal with raiding. The short answer is that we have no official answer. What we have been told is that the developers hope to have the game geared 80% towards RvR & PvP at end game and 20% towards PvE encounters (which was mentioned in this thread).
I believe at this point the developers are still discussing how they want to implement end game PvE content into the game but we have no hard numbers. One thing to point out is to determine what you consider a raid. Is an 18 man alliance from Final Fantasy XI a raid group? Or only what we have seen in World of Warcraft? To be honest I think there will be content for large groups of players and there will be PvE content that while linked to PvP/RvR will NOT have you confronting players. So raid content? Yes. Just not so focused and ingrained on PvE content but rather RvR and PvP.
So Skorakiks Id wager yes to answer your question though we have no specifics.

Hi
That means you can be attacked by another raid during your raid Sounds fantastic

Would be nice if the RVR/PVP raiding has bigger raidsize then wow, more like everquest 72 or even more
