MMORG ME

thinguythinguy Member Posts: 32

I'm looking for an MMORG game but I don't know which one.  So please advice.

I've played AC2 for a while and liked it quite a bit but got bored with it.

I've tried the following but never got past the trial/free month.

EverQuest -Graphics were to poor a quality and killing little rats was boring.

ShadowBane -Buggy and generally uninpressive.

DAoC -Graphics were poor but nice community/friendly.

Earth and Beyond was interesting and fun but didn't grab my attention.

AO was alright but seemed to take a lot to ramp up the character.

Star Wars -Beta Was just generally let down and depressed by this one. My precious SW what have they done to you!  Of course it was beta.....

I like to play by myself mostly but will play with others but can't devote alot of scheduled time to a game.  The wife and new baby tend to take priority. :)

I was thinking of City of Heroes, Eve, FFXI, Lineage II but I'm unsure.

FFXI and Lineage 2 are - in my opinion - very time consuming. I played a whitemage from 1-42 on FFXI, one of the most demanded classes - and could find myself looking for groups for nearly two hours. Both games seemed to be very group biased also.

Can't speak for the others, never tried them. DAoC is getting a models update soon, so if the graphics were your only complaint, keep an eye on that.

L2 seems very promising end game, if they have fixed the pvp fighting. It used to eb you needed to hold ctrl and click them while fighting. The xp is a real grind, but if you dont mind that it wasn't so bad. It looked like it would be great to me, but taking me to long to reach level 15 during vacations was a turn off. I'm a casual player and didn't have time for this kind of xp.

Go for CoH in my opinion, I heard it was very good, and of course, it takes a break from most MMORPG's that are either fantasy or sci-fi.

if you ever thought about what it was like to create your own super hero and get him/her the way you wanted then play COH.

If the only reason you didn't like DAoC was the poor graphics then perhaps just invest in the upgrade packs. The Shrouded Isles + Trials of Atlantis expansions updated the graphics engine and the new areas look a whole lot better than the old ones.

CoH isn't what i'd call an MMORPG, it's an arcade game with lots of people in it. If you want something with some depth then look elsewhere i'd say (ok i'm expect all the CoH to start flaming about how incredibly deepo the game is now :p). There's no loot, no crafting, and not a really good community tbh, just endless amounts of kiltasks, aka it's an arcade game.

    that's my 2cents anyway.

ok if you ever got high enough in DAoC to really get involved in the PVP and you enjoyed it you should go with L2.

seems any other game out there atm the graphics will not live up to your standards you should check out Dark and Light, WoW, and EQ2.

Like was allready said DAoC  has much better graphics if you purchase its 2 expansions with better graphics coming in the future, plus hopefully better PvP from the beginning on with the new frontiers patch.

I would also like to say that if you like Star Wars, IMO SWG is greatly improved and alot more fun to play. And very solo friendly, plus has a 14day free trial.

CoH is casual friendly but I personally didnt really like it that much, something about being part of a huge population of super heros just didnt go over with me, but I guess its an OK game overall if you want to just fight repetative AI.
