SERVER LAG!

Anyone have major server lag? Every time I go on my character wraps... It's not bad enought where ill stop playing but it would be great if could decrease it. I have the texture and stuff on High and If i turn it down I dont see a difference. I'm running on 1220x990 ( i think ) it looks alright. Im on a 19in widescreen monitor, I could be running amazing quality but the game lags so bad if I turn up the resolution at all. And If i go lower with the res the game looks like crap and all the words are big.

Anyone else having these issues?

Im sure it will get better as the game progresses.

I can run this game on a laptop with a 1.6 ghz processor (under the required), a 128 vid card and 1 gig ram with no lag.

For the OP if turning down your settings improves performance they yopu are suffering from client side lag not server side. Most of teh performance problems I have seen in LoTRO have to do with loading textures in Bree when there are a lot of PC's on screen. I am hoping to upgrade to a card with more video memory this summer. Making sure your hard drive is optimized also helps. The ingame options also have some tweaks that can benefit performance, the official boiards have a lot of threads on those, just do a search. One of the biggest performance boosts I have found is turning down the detail on shadows.

    I miss DAoC

I am running it on Windows Vista I believe that is the problem... I have a top of the line PC and it works amazing on High Detail but when I put it to Ultra High it lags like shit and the whole client stops working and I get a Windows Error... I dunno I believe that LOTRO is having an issue with Windows Vista and there software/driver's.

Yet another warning to STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM WINDOWS VISTA.  Sorry about your trouble mate - most of my friends experience 'lag' due only to graphics and not internet/server related.

I am running the game on Vista as well. No problems at all. 3.0 dual core processor and two SLI linked 6800s with 2 gig of ram. Running game on the highest settings.

The devs have said there are some major problems with Vista and the 8800 cards.  Alot of crashes and lag due to memory leaks.  They are aware of it and hopefully soon there will be a fix.  In the meantime they say to drop your texure level down to high.

    Good luck

They will be surely fixed in release version. Turbine can't launch a ''Game for Windows'' with such problems.

    I have 512mb video memory.

I get slideshows in (or even outside of) cities. I have turned EVERYTHING to the lowest settings. It doesn't help. There are severe problems with the client for some people. Plain and simple. I have made multiple posts here and on the official forums. I get the same answers that I have tried numerous times in many combinations of ways.

My fiancee's machine is similar to mine in performance (processor speed, RAM, basic video card performance, etc) and she stutters in cities as well(not quite as bad as me, but very noticeable).

I really want to watch this game on someone's machine that they claim they have no stuttering problems and see if they are kidding themselves, or really just don't notice like I do or something. I am about to not be lazy and make a video in FRAPS and show the world how bad it really is for me in cities.

Yeah, Quad Core doesn't perform yet any better than Core Duo because nothing supports four cores yet. Actually Core 2 Duo performs better if the clock speed is higher.

I run the game on max settings on everything,  and I started noticing slight bits

of lag coming and going starting about one week ago, here is a good test, go to

the town hall in Bree, inside there you get lots of lag, step outside and gets much

    better.

This use to not happen I have been to this spot many times and never had any

lag till this last week, so something has changed, also I have been having some

weird problem where when I come out of a building all players are dark, but

the environment is fine, bad part is only a complete reboot fixes it, killing off the

game and restating does not make it go away, this started in the last week as

    well.

    I have a 1950 ATI Crossfire vid-card.........4gig corsair memory on a 6800 duo

intel proc.....so I don't think it is my hardware.......

From my understanding it's a problem that Nvidia has to fix with the 8800 card drivers and Vista.  Has nothing to do with LOTRO or Turbine.  The same problem exists for Vanguard players as well.  That's where I first heard about it.

So yes, the game can launch when it's a problem with Nvidia drivers.

As for my rig: P4, 2.8ghz, 2Gig ram, Radeon x1600xt 256 mb (agp no less) and the game runs decently for me on modified Ultra High settings.
