Wondering Why Pre-Combat Upgrade was Exciting?

I can't explain why it was fun without writing an essay, so watch this video first and then if you still really want me to write an essay I will. This video just covers the PVP aspect of Pre-CU but everything in SWG was exciting, except for the un-expected "updates."

The first thing that catches my attention in this video is the normal movement speed. I'm sure it looks slow to the newer NGE'ers but it really was a fluid and comfortable speed, yet still engaging and exciting.

CU was not that bad also.... required more armor gathering is about all.

It made me mad at my mom.

it had bugs. it had lag.it had lack of content. we didn't care. the ability to be what you wanted when you wanted made it good. what good gameplay comes down to is player choices. the nge forces you to be what the devs want. no ability to seek your own way.

Players had to choose the level of dependancy on others through their choice of skill points was one aspect I thought socially engineered players to intereact one and other.  Thus creating a community whether one wanted to be created or not.  I meet tons of players because of this and learned more about the game in the process... anyhow guess it was not for their "test group".

Also everyone had an opportunity to make $$$  - even if they were too lazy, stupid or stubborn to take advantage of it.

Personaly I enjoyed qatching PvP more than actually particpating in it.  Getting DOT'ed by a CM tossing a poison bomb @ 85 yards got stale for me after a while.

On another note (after I watched the video) though those big town battles were really really FUN! :)
