Guild recruitment forums for AoC, or is it too early?

I think someone should make a sticky, or a completely new forum apart from general and suggestions, dedicated to people who either want to plan a guild,or join a guild, and all that type of stuff. They could post their email adresses, and links if they have a guild site and other things people would need to join the guild. Maybe a bit too early? You decide. Don't call me a fanatic, just call me "Very Exited" So, is my idea a good one?

The Varangian Guard served as the elite bodyguards of the Byzantine Emperors, from the late 10th Century till the sacking of Constantinople in the 13th Century at the hands of the 4th Crusade. Their name derives from the Old Norse word for 'oath', and they kept these oaths unto death. Comprised primarily of Northmen, hailing in large part from the lands of Scandanavia and the Rus, they were prized by the Eastern Emperors for their fierce loyalty, as well as their indifference to the swirling machinations of Byzantine politics. They performed the most lethal and sensitive of tasks, dealing with both external military threats and internal intrigues. The Varangian were foes to be treated with fear and respect.

These are our chosen namesake, and like them, we value loyalty and trust above all else. We seek quality people, not just players, to join us in this new endeavor. Tho we seek to provide a stable and friendly environment, we are also a highly competitive and driven clan. We are ready, willing and able to make our collective time spent in AoC profitable, in comraderie as well as in-game successes.

If you seek an active and ambitious, yet mature and respectful clan in which to move ahead forward, then seek us out. In Varangian Guard, the most capable are not chosen to do the job; they instead seek out the job and do it. In Varangian Guard, you will get back what you put in. Its all about the success of the guild, and the satisfaction that comes with it. The experience that comes with many years of collective online gaming ( mostly in SWG, Flurry Galaxy Server, as DC and then later IO ) has taught us that Mmorpgs require collaborative efforts if they are to last. No matter how resourceful the one, in order to fully realize the potential of these games, the one must join with other like-minded individuals. Join us.

Clan Applications are up on the forums. The mainpage is still under construction, so bear with the sawdust for a little while longer

In a game that has major pvp in it, the purpose is so that after launch you aren't being taken out by hordes of players over and over because you will have guild members to come to your aid rather then get ganked over and over and over.

And yes, their official site forums has a guild hall.

I've usually run that path as well.

However, in one of perhaps my favorite guild experiences, I got together with people, well...5-6 months before the game released. It gave us a chance to get to know one another fairly well, long before we ever logged into the same world. As info came out, we were able to discuss it, have fun with it, and we spoke about plans for game, and things that we wanted to do, and how to accomplish 'em.

No right or wrong, meet the people whenever you want, but I'm thinkin' twice, because I really enjoyed the get to knowing process, and it made the game infinitely more enjoyable for me.

My Age of Conan guild, The Acolytes, just recently celebrated its one year anniversary. We currently have over 200 registered members. So, is now too early to start or join a guild? I think not.

Thanks Bigdavo! We owe it all to our webmaster Drakus! As Aelfinn mentioned we just celebrated our 1 year anniversary and I think it will be very beneficial for our members to get to know each other a bit. Also, it is a benefit knowing that you have at least 200 other people behind you if you need support in whatever you choose to do. But, there are also people that like to wait to get in game and feel it out a bit before they join a guild. To each their own!

    See you all in Hyboria!

Annoying that Warhammer already has a section for guilds on this board, and AoC doesn't, despite the fact it'll more than likely be out sooner. Favoritism ftl :/

I personally don't see the point in joining a guild before the game is released, but its not a bad idea because it at least gets you aquainted with people who want to get a guild together so you can quickly meet the requirements to set one up (i.e. full group of people).

Beyond that, there is no way to know if the guild will actually be successful in game or not until its live.

True for the most part, there are some indicators that can help show whether or not the guild will last, but in any case:

If you do get involved in a guild prior to a game, and said guild falls apart, have you really lost anything? The only difference between that scenario and waiting is that you've had a few more freinds to talk to in between now and launch.
