Anyone else think it's a lil expensive and happens a big too often? Just wondering... is there a way to repair things yourself rather than losing so much? Like... if you have heavy armour that needs repair and you're a smith you could go to a forge and fix er up?
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

Thanks for the replies guys - I don't mind it so much, but realistically I'd love to be able to repair something that makes sense - swords = armsmen... that kinda think. Maybe in time. Cheers

The cost of repairs is totally unrealistic. It's pretty much my only gripe with the game. For example i made a magic bracelet that had a resale value of a couple of silver. I go out fighting for a bit, go back to an armourer and he offers to repair it for 5 silver! It was the same with many other items, the repair cost was more than their worth. crazy.
I don't mind paying for repairs, but lets get real.
I think the cost of repairs is fine. I play a guardian in purple crafted heavy armor so my repair costs are HIGH, but it's silly to think if I was really getting beat on so much it wouldn't be expensive to fix (typically it costs me as much or more to repair as someone else who actually fell (died- but no death in game). But I don't have a problem with this, keeps money going out of the game and that's a good thing. As a metalsmith it would be nice if I could repair my own armor, using materials in the process, but at some point I'd probably just rather pay for it anyway.
The high cost of repairs also means I'm not grouping with some dumbass who can't fight as a team player or follow a plan. As it is in most groups I lose money on repairs (but if I get a goal accomplished it's a trade off).
If there are still problems for particular items or classes, I'm sure they will continue to fine tune, but it's now fixed for what seems to be just about everyone.

In Bree, in the town hall the grocer, ?Appledore sells items and does repairs for 1/2 price. Wax is 23C for example. With the last change, and using his services, repair costs are pretty well under control.
Now about those training and barding costs....
Edit: I've heard of, but not yet seen, other 1/2 price merchants in other towns.

I'm not too sure how much anything has changed since the end of February, but I think that item wear happens too fast. It's one of the few things that I didn't like about LotRO.
I miss DAoC
I died for the first time a few nights ago (curse you undying titles!), and actually cringed a bit thinking about the repairs (believing all the uproar as I did). When I actually checked my repair bill, it was only about 1 silver and change. Granted, I only have about two-thirds yellow gear, but I was expecting to be wiped out financially.
The problem in rooting out this repair cost issue is that there are so many variables involved. Some people are wiped out financially, and you feel sorry for them until you realize they carry around packs full of equipment and hit the repair all button at every vendor stop. It starts to bring into question all claims of financial disaster.

If you died a few nights ago then you died after the patch I think. I know there were some times I died went back to repair and it was around 20 silver. After the patch it was about 2 silver for repairs.
Also I always sell before repairs.
In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.
It's scaling for me okay so far. The cost of repairs is actually making me more cautious and tactical when it comes to what I choose to fight, and how I go about it. But I still die sometimes - and it isn't breaking the bank in any way shape or form - but it's still a good sting.
Death should be feared in one way or another, and item repair costs is doing its job I think.
