this poll has been made before in the WoW forums by another member but like you'd guess, the results were biased, so i am posting one here to see if how much the results even up or at all if i could vote i would vote WoW but since i made this poll, i won't vote.

My problem with Wow is that the characters look like crap. the graphics are nice but all the characters look like monsters and being a girl I dont like that.
Also if youll notice what kind of population WCIII carries I dont think WoW is going to be a very nice game for those of us over the age of 14. Every little kid that played WCIII is gonna come to WoW not know what a mmorpg community is like or how to act there and i think the average maturity level will be very low because of that.
Who wants to play a mmorpg that requires you to realy on your group mates when your group mates dont pay attention. obviously im not saying ALL people who played WCIII are like this or even that all kids are like this but fact is many of them just arent cut out for mmorpgs
ill try both, because its all a matter of taste.. maybe i'll play both, or stick to one .. i have to see what happens
I never played WCIII, and I know at least three people that will buy WoW, and doesn´t play WCIII. Only one of these persons are MMORPG fans, and i don´t know any of these persons from computer gaming at all. Still they´re really excited about WoW.
My point is that I think there will be an enormous influx of people to this game, regardless of if they played a MMORPG or WCIII. WoW will not only take a big slice of the existing MMORPG community, but also expand the total market. Finally, with grinding and leveing treadmill out of the question, maybe the MMORPG scene will go mainstream.
I am betatesting Wow for some time and we have really nice community there But i fear the moment when the game will be released and servers will be swarming with people that bought the game just coz they know Warcraft 3 and do not really know how to play MMORPG. I think it is the task of RP players who know what to do, to teach those dudes how to play MMORPG's and from my experience from other games.. it is possible. Of course, there are people that will never change and who's motives to play online games much differ from mine, but I believe we can create a community that will meet at least some of our wishes
i recently stopped playing a mmorpg that had many younger players, From spatial chat, steal killing, behaivors in game
makes me in no way want to even try wow. i saw what lack of maturity and consern bout non community building can do for a game and vialabe longity, not being achieved due to ugliness/slefishness of the players
that would lead me to beleive that wow could be even worse
there is at this point and time no way i would even try it
I've voting for EQ2 over WoW but I am likely to experience both.
I come from an UO (Classic Pre-Beta - 98') Background when EQ was blasphemy. I've played every Blizzard Title to death and im getting sick of it similarities. So i wonder if WoW will be any different... By the looks of it however... So I'm left to look at EQ2 and the promises that it will not be like EQ and im scared.
Subjected to a year of over-hyphed gaming disasters, my choices for quality mmorpg entertainment in the year 2004 are running out!

I voted for WoW because I loved the screenshots and what I read about crafting and the game in general. I liked turn-based games so I never played Warcraft and their world is new to me.
Still the idea of 24 character raid max in EQII is very appealing. Now if they would just cut that down to 18...
is it true ? i think in eq2 is no pvp right?
EQ2 has servers for PvP players. By far most of the servers are non PvP. A nice aspect of the game is you can have characters on both. If you tire of non Pvp you can always create a character on the PvP server so some level 4 monk can beat up on your new level 1 in the newbie field.
I gained a whole new appreciation for how difficult it could be to maintain a simple thing like food.
I'm for World Of Warcraft. I love the world , i love the races, i love the characters, i love the story, so WoW is just for me
I also like the Life Quests - they will influence the whole game world.
But it's all a matter of taste.I've never played EverQuest, but it just doesn't sound like my kind of game...so I'll have to go with World Of Warcraft
You are wrong. WoW does not have only damage throwers. There is the priest class - which specialises in healing, crowd control. Other classes have lots of buffs, enchantments , curses , etc.
The spellcaster classes are very flexible, and different. And not to mention there are 5 of them
I can't give you much info because I'm not in the Beta , but there should be something for everyone
The problem with these polls is that half the people dont really have a clue about both games. They have one they have been following and really have no idea about the gameplay or content of the other.
I guess thats fine, if one of the games just doesnt look of interest to you there is no reason to bother following it on websites and such.
Its just frustrating to see so many posts from both sides about things from "the other game" which are largely misinformed or regarding something nobody can possibly know about the game yet.
There are posts in here about how EQ2 is too much of a grind, which without even playing a beta of doesnt make much sense to assume. Especially considering the massive differences in gameplay between the original and sequal that have been posted and seen in videos. In fact some of the reviewers that have had the opportunity to play both games have said many of their quest systems and leveling experiences are similar in WoW and EQ2.
In a similar thread to this someone said he wouldnt play WoW because it doesnt have crafting. Everything I have read and seen seems to indicate there is crafting in WoW and that its actually quite well done.
Saying you like one game or the other more and even pointing out things you like better about one is all great, it would just be nice if the stuff posted about "the other game" was something you actually based on information released at the least.
Personally I think both games look very interesting and have high hopes that they will provide us with a choice of two excellent games to play when they are released.
EQ has a lot of experience, but folks want something new. EQ 2 doesnt sound new...it sounds rehashed.
Same with me. Now I am not sure if I am happy or disappointed that WoW and EQ2 are scheduled to be released a couple of months apart. It seemed as if they would release together, in which case my decision would be to purchase EQ2, playing and see what I thought, and ask all my friends who will be trying WoW how that is.
Now that their release dates are a little different, I will most likely purchase both and try them both equally, having to decide which I like best. It actually works out good for me (not for my wallet)
My bad. I should have clarified by saying arcane (as opposed to divine casters). The only 2 arcane appear to be so far Mage (standard blastum), Warlock (summoner) horde only.
The other 3 are clerical types or hybrid with Priest, Shaman hyrbid horde only, and Druid who also has healing and buffs. Their spells might be fairly similar with Druids having shape shifting and Shaman getting a few offensive spells and better melee.
I was lamenting the small number of classes (8)overall the limited number of arcane types. Like an enchanter/charm type, an illusionist, a necromancer, elementalist, etc... but I suppose it is beta and i havent' even seen it. I'm sure both Wow and EQ2 will be quite addictive and continue to get more fleshed out.
Uh oh, i must insist on proving you wrong there.
Wow, rehashed? let me guess, you never even read up on EQ2 did you? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Immersion- All the NPC's are scripted. That means they all have arrons to do, places to go, they act like REAL PEOPLE. The NPC's all have voice communication, which breaks the barrier of immersion. Not immersive enough? As an example, SoE said that if there was a crowd of people gathering in the city, guards would tell you it is too crowded and you have to move elsewhere. Now that is damn immersive.
Quests- Congratulations, not every quest is camp the mob for a dagger. Also, sometimes instead of you going to the NPC for quest, the NPC will actually seek you out! Asking if you can complete a quest for him/her. As a quest example one quest is that you have to steal something off a conductor. You have to distract him. The way you do that is to conduct the band to play certain songs in order. Once you get it in the right order the conductor will be busy and you can steal the item.
Crafting- Crafting in EQ2 is simply astonishing. Instead of obtaining components, plopping them into a forge, and hitting a combine key, it adds much more complexity. You take your components (which will vary, again depending on the level of the item you're trying to create) and fire up the forge. At this point you enter into a kind of mini game. You need the forge to stay in a certain temperature range during this process, so you have to control the amount of wood you put on the fire. While keeping an eye on that, you also take actions that affect the properties of the finished product. You can refine the armor, which makes it lighter. This impacts its durability, however, so you might want to bolster durability by reinforcing the armor. You'll also want to shape the breastplate, which affects its overall quality. The Artisan must decide at which point in the process the armor is done, because keeping it in the forge too long could weaken it.
EQ2 being the same as the original? You need to research the game before you say something like that
NVidia - The way it is meant to be played
ATI - The way it really plays
I think both games look sure to be hits, and from people who played both, they sound like they have a similar combat style. So it comes down to a few small (in the overall scheme of things) differences.
1. I like the EQ2 graphics. Ya, ya, ya, I know some think they look like plastic, but give me some of that good plastic over looney toons any day. I really don't dislike the WoW graphics that much. They look well done, I just prefer what I have seen in the EQ graphics so far.
2. If there was one thing I really didn't like about EQ it was the way Sony kept caving to those power gamers who chewed up content, spit it out, and cried for more. That is a hit against Sony, but it seems a great deal of those gamers are going to WoW which makes EQ2 more appealing in my view.
3. Raids geared more toward smaller groups (even single groups). Not sure how the raiding game will be in WoW, but having raids that are dependant on the skill of the players instead of the size of your army sounds great to me. If WoW ends up having small raids, they could cancel out this point.
4. NPCs with voices. Not a huge deal, but with two very good looking games, this tips the scales a bit.
So, as you can see, there isn't anything huge that has me leaning toward EQ2, but there is just enough to tip it that way. So, if EQ2 doesn't live up to expectations, I wouldn't hesitate at all to jump ship and give WoW a shot.
EQ2 all the way...
Im sorry. WOW looks like EQ1 in WC3 setting. Nothing NEW!!! My friend is in the beta and ive played and seen it. Sorry its not new. I got bored in 3 days. Same thing as EQ but less grind and cooler aspects.
EQ2 on the other hand? Well from what I have read alone from E3 and the fact EQ2 won the award. Id say EQ2 anyday.
To many new features that WOW doesnt have and EQ does.
EQ2, no desire to play WoW. Now maybe that's just my ignorance, but I've read a good deal about both games. A lot of people mention the graphics, and I have to agree. While I may not care for the elf graphics in EQ2, the rest of the toons and especially the environments look outstanding.
WoW has forced downtime and the graphics look way too cartoony imo. I simply do not understand the hype behind WoW, maybe someone can explain it to me.
