I was at my local Best Buy yesterday with my sister and saw about a dozen Vanguard boxes in the 19.99 bin.
Probably because they over ordered but I've never seen that happen to a game before quite that fast.
Like someone said above, all games drop prices after release, but I never saw one drop this fast so soon. Most wait for 3-5 months and drop it $10, then at 6+ drop it to $30.
I saw Vanguard and Eq2 for 20$ buy one get the other free. The store even had a few copies of the CE Vanguard.
I wonder if I could make money reselling theose Collectors Editions on Ebay..Nay probably not.
That comment made me laugh so hard, I went to bestbuy and vanguard is down $19.95 they got about 35 copies in there. I went to ebgames and its down $29.95 with 15 copies available.
Prices may drop to a point in the following weeks of release, but your not seeing WOW BC in the discount bin or darn near close to it yet, the only time you see prices drop fast is when a product is poor.
Go check out amazon and you can now get the collector's edition for around $45 lol
The Burning Crusade was available for £12 ($24) 2 months after release, here in the UK. I cant speak for for the rest of the world, but here video games fall in price very quickly after release.
Comparing the price drop of an expansion pack which sold millions since it's release, to a full game which couldn't even hit 300k since it's release, really doesn't make sense.
Why not? WoW has 8 million subscribers I keep reading, why would they need to drop the price when only a minority of that figure had bought the expansion pack...and am I right this expansion pack is the first wow add on ever released?
Im sorry, not seeing the logic at all. VG: new game, needs to attract a new subscriber base. WoW: existing game with existing subscriber base. Its sales on the expansion are, or should be, guaranteed.
I already said that prices of games here in the UK start drop very quickly after release - normally after the first 4-6 weeks. Games that dont do well pre-order will release already discounted.
Expansion packs on the other hand, will keep their price as their sale is guaranteed - eg EQ: The Gates of Discord can be digitally downloaded for around £5/$10. If I want the box however, it will cost me 3x as much - £15/$30 - if I buy from a store. Yep an EQ expansion commands a higher price than WoW's.
Perhaps the opposite of what happens in the UK works in the US but if you go into any UK store you will see Full Versions at bargain bin prices while expansions hold their price...well, unless its a WoW expansion apparently.
TBC's almost immediate price cut staggered me more than anything and shows that although WoW may have sold 8mil boxes they have nowhere near that many subscribers - I imagine many of those boxes were never used outside of private servers.
I respect those that stil are teenagers, living at home with their parents, those with no income i understand it must be frustrating to spend $50bucks on a game and in the end some of you did not like it and might feel abit rippedof by the price drop. But i have absolute no respect for adults that complain about it. They should have jobs and should not have to worry about those $50bucks, unless they don't have a job i would suggest to get one and stop complaining about some penny cash. Now don't come reply'ng on me saying well if money means nothing to me i can transfer it over to you. Duh money means allot. But the money i spend on games do not interfear with my rl affairs, if they would i would reconsider buying a game. Next time for some of the adults that how sad it may sound feel ripped off. Think before you buy or wait beofre you buy.

Mmmm not in general....Sorry you are utterly wrong in terms of our major retailers current RRP's.
GAME - Uk's largest retailer for PC and Console games "Burning Crusade" £16.99 ($32)
Gamestation - UK Norths largest retailer second only to GAME "Burning Crusade" £16.99 ($32) Pricematched
Even on PLAY.COM which is exempt of UK VAT due too its placement in Jersey the Retail is £14.99 ($28)
This is as of today April 22nd 2007. What you have said isnt right at all for the large UK Retailers i am afraid where the majoirty would purchase the burning crusade from and therefore the recognized RRP.
