well actually in closed beta I saw a goblin commander or some kinda leader for goblins near the dwarf lands, he walked up to another goblin did some hand motion and walked away, and the goblin he went up to went somewhere else to explore or something...I didn't really watch for long but I thought that was neat
I haven't seen anything like that in open beta, I assume they took that little thing out maybe to work on it or something
You see it all happen if people aren't around interacting with them. Also I fought several gobbos and one was a "leader" i.e. he was more powerful.
We approached the tight knit group of gobbos and he turned to another just as the aggro flash appeared above their heads, then the one he "spoke" to flanked us, he was an archer.
I'm not saying that's brillianrt or anything, in fact with expectations nowadays it's almost required. However it happened, it works and it's in LoTRO.
Does lord of the rings online offer anything new in the AI of the enemies that other mmorghs do not? Any info on this appreciated.
It's pretty much what you'd expect. Nothing revolutionary here really. There are some nice little touches, like what the previous poster mentioned about the mobs flanking you, and they seem to like changing targets a lot - which can be exciting when you're trying to protect an NPC or a healer. It's all par for the course though - and archers are a pain as always.
the NPC escort quests are cleverly scripted I think, and the instanced storylines where they're all talking to each other (like during a battle scenario quest) gives the story a quick fire continuation that is damn good - it really puts you there in the thick of it.
