My friend is telling me to uninstall the Beta Client and install the DVD when LOTRO comes out this week because the DVD has the hi rez graphics. Is this true or is he delusional?

    That is true. However, if your computer can't handle it then you won't need them.

    Your friend is pulling your leg. The current beta client will be more up-to-date than the disks you get at retail.

    The DVD included with the prebuy and I assume the retail release includes the high res textures. The downloaded beta does not.

    it's true that the dvd has the high-rez pack.

    but, you can install the dvd into another folder if you like, and copy the

    client_highres.dat to your beta folder - that one will be most up to date. you would also need the movies though, but i think if you have the us version, they followed already in the beta along.

    if you have a fast connection, then you don't have to bother. delete the beta client, reinstall the dvd and patch.

    I would suggest installing the DVD and patching over night.  Myself, I'm going to wait a few days after launch because the patching server is going to be hit hard.  You can still play with the beta client you have.
