Does anyone know if they will be bringing new servers online when they release it for retail tomorrow?

Thanks

They'd be foolish not to, but I haven't heard of anything concrete.

They haven't pre-announced any new servers, but they have the server capacity ready for a sell out and I'd be very surprised if there aren't new servers tomorrow.

BTW, pre-order people will be able to continue playing after midnight and non-preorder retail customers who have a copy of the game will be able to start playing at midnight. However, tuesday morning is when the servers will come down briefly to remove the level 15 cap and probably to purge the non-preorder beta accounts.

So, I'm guessing that any new servers will not be up until after the tuesday morning downtime.

There are differnt servers for europe then america. That is why the European servers do not go down for the remove of the level 15 cap since there isnt one on the europeon servers.

You EU players are lucky with no lvl cap. Of course you started playing later than we did. Guess it all balances out. Have fun in the game.

The eleven servers will be brought down for the retail at 6 am est 24 April for about four hours.
Of the 800k open beta (ob) testers at least 300k will remain through pre-order status through the 29th. So unless more than 800k bought the retail dvd by tomorrow (including preorder,) there will be at least 11 servers.
Brandywine and Meneldor were the first two servers, and brandy often had a wait que to enter in ob.

Trouble is, many that bought online are being *icked with S&H adding two and more weeks untill their mailed dvd & product key arrive (hence why Turbine extended the ob subscription for pre-order people to allow time to submit the product key and update to retail) like amazon.com through their farce "free S&H" est delivery 3 - 5 may TWO WEEKS after retail !!

Yes, and it is a real pain for us.

With friends and guild in both europe and north america, this makes it almost impossible for us to all play on the same server.

I cancelled my order until I see exactly what is going on with the euro vs US servers, but right now it seems that US can only play on the north america servers, and europeans only on the ones run by codemasters in europe.

And apparently our 3 guld members in Indonesia cannot even order the game at all, from anyplace.

And I am hearing complaints about the server mess from australia also, since that is handled by Atari.

You would think they would have learned by now that mmo's are international.

Yeah the Euro servers are also one patch behind.  The last US patch (the one that lowered repair costs and nerfed farming) hasn't been applied in Europe yet and per Codemasters is only going to be applied a week or so after launch.  The whole thing does seem rather uncoordinated internationally, to be honest.

Just in case anyone hasn't picked up the news the IP check has been removed from the US editions of the game. As it stands people in Europe can buy a US edition and play on US servers.

Better but still a mistake, doubtless part of the deal with Codemasters but it failed totally with DDO and is a mess with DAoC. Ironic that this is something that EQ1 got right years and years ago.

Not patching for a week will be problematic. It is already known how to exploit (for gold), and the US servers were capped because players could only get to level 15 content. Without the content cap, and pre-knowledge of the farming issues, people will surely exploit the opportunity.

Please, get over yourself already.  You act like ebgames, gamestop, amazon, and all the other companies get these games months ahead of time and intentially sit on them until after the release date just so you and anyone else who orders online will have a two week delay.   I've worked in a shipping center before.   Let me tell you how it works.  FOR ILLUSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY  As a shipping center, we may get told that we have 2,500 cases of LOTRO coming in and each case has 50 copies.  Well, when the deliver finally shows, we only get 1,000 cases.  Guess what happens.  Within 24 hours of us receiving those 1,000 cases, we have shipped out 50,000 copies of the game.  What does that mean for the customers?  We have 75,000 customers that will have to wait until the next shipment of LOTRO.  Trust me, as a distribution center we lose money if we keep inventory sitting around the warehouse.  No one, and I mean no one, in the distribution line sits on inventory for weeks at a time except the retailers.

This is not surprising.  Think back to DDO.  Turbine loves to have exploits go live and sit there for a few weeks.  That way the IGEs of the world will be able fill their coffers with supplies.  Then, Turbine will fix the exploits and not remove the exploited items/gold from the game.  I expect nothing less from Turbine.   It is the way they released DDO.
