I really wanna like this game!

Well as you guys see from the topic here, i really really wanna like this game and want to play in the sandbox Sigil has beutifully created. As as a beta tester i went through the performance/bug problems for months until i found out they were releasing the game early and destroying my hope for the game. I read the forums on a daily basis and i know the trolls and the vanbois, i just wanna know is there anybody else in the same shoes as i am? I love the game to death but i just cant go pick it up and buy it in fear of losing out on what i hoped for.

Thanks it fellas and keep it real! VG forums = best read after a cold brew.

I too played beta along with a friend and we both went into the official release looking forward to more fixes and the "vision" which was spoken of and we had followed for a long time waiting on it to be released. Since then both of us have quit playing VG and feel very let down and really heart sick to see the vision as they lead all to believe start to head into another direction entirely.

We dearly loved the game and had high hopes for it but encountered some very bad issues that seemed to rarely if ever never make the "fix" list. He crossed a chunk and his level 25 main character became corrupt or for a better word lost in limbo, as he was told by a GM, and the only thing they knew to tell him more or less was "well lets hope the daily restart kicks it back in". That didn't do it, and so the story went until they finally had another update then finally his main was back. The deaths at the hands of chunking, recalling, you name it just took its toll on us both, also the CTDs which would happen almost every 2 hours on the dot, on top of other numerous things.

Our machines were both more than what VG called for so we knew that was not the issue. We researched every tech site we could to help the CTDs and the issues but nothing helped. I will say however, with one of the patches the CTDs did become less of an issue which we were very greatful for.

We never felt so bad as the day we had to hit that cancel button but a person can only take so much. I've been watching the forums in hopes things will get better in time but by the looks of it, its not, its being watered down and now I can see Vanguard boxes discounted everywhere so it makes it even a sadder feeling to know the outlook isn't so good atleast from where I'm standing but there still maybe hope.

This is just my opinion and a little of what a friend and I have experienced VG will always have that special place in our hearts with a small spark of hope. We do not hate it we're just disappointed the vision was and is being lost.

"I really wanna like this game".

You can safely say everyone who brought it had the same thought, unfortunately....

Er, seriously, you guys are taking this just a bit too far.  This is just a video game.  It's a shame that it isn't a very good one, but there's no real reason to be this upset about it.

To the OP, since the price has fallen so much now, just go buy the game and give it a try. Some folks really like the game, others like me and others don't...no big deal.

Thank you very much for this truthful representation.  Unlike Kari and a handful other Vanbois who continually post that the game has come a long ways, that it is very different now and all other rosy bs, the truth is like a slap on the face. Heh, what a  pity :(

The truth is that the game is fundementally the same. I am also glad that this is coming from a recent player, so "you don't know anything, you are not playing the game" lie is also exposed! And now, we are going to hear the same "But I am having loads of fun" and similar makebelieve again and again.

What a pity! Such a release and service in 2007 is a hard blow on this industry. People who continue to propagate it bring on even a harder blow. Unfortunately, the rest of us who are expecting the quality, creativity and fun bar to raise every year get disappointed  with this sad devolution :(

Lol you better search my posts. The only comments I have made about the game performance between now and beta is that I have noticed no change!

Had no problems running it in beta and I have no problems running it now despite being 1gb RAM down. If youre going to refer to my commentary at least get it right.

EDIT: For the op. Check out the sticky - http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/126356
