Yet another farewell..

Well i'm out.  Played till level 36 SORC and i''m done.  Vanguard is not a "bad" game... its not really all that "good".  The quests are very bland, the game play and mobs are a bit boring (and stupid).  I think I realized this when I went out of town for 4 days and didn't even think about the game once.  I don't think I can say anything that hasn't been said before, so if we played on Flamehammer server together best of luck to you and yours :)

Hmm, didnt you say this when your level 30 ?

    Qoute:

Vanguard forced me too.  I actually really like this game and have been able to steer clear of everything that "felt "like a grind. How?  By mixing it up constantly.. soloing, doing quests in group or solo, the occasional group exp party, and changing continents often, crafting a bit.  This has kept things fresh and interesting (for me).

But this GD panther mask... what a load of BS!  Kill 600 mobs (all the same) in a tight quarter cave where my AOE ability is "mysteriously" disabled (of course they don't tell me that.. I just have to figure it out).  Then and only then can I get a quest that... guess what.... drum roll.... allows me to kill another 20 of the same mobs! Yeah! But then at least that unlocks the next quest where I get to kill 4 named.  Oh but wait... the named are random spawn from placeholder mobs... not just any mobs but the same mobs... wooty woot!

Of course I want a mask which gives me 20% faster running speed.  I'm sure a lot of people could say "well if its such a grind then STFU and don't do it (heres your cue)" But I guess my point is , although i'm not a vanboid, I could counter argue most of the trolling points about this game, or at least the negatives that don't ditract from the positives (IMO).

But Vanguard... I can not defend thee for this!  I can't even imagine how horrible this experience would be if there were actually more people playing the game and I had to compete even more for the 600 boring mobs. Ok my head hurts now... mostly from running around in this cave.

Now your leaving, because you never got the special run speed mask, hmm.  Maybe you did get it, i dont know. But I find it weird that you like the game till 30 and now you dont. In EQ 1, there is a special book in the zone of HATE to make a special 49 pet, that I have never gotton. I had every prenerf item in the game, every rare drops you can imagine. I completed the hardest quest in the game, and yet till the day Ii left eq, i still was camping for that damn book, lol. There is some things in life that not going to happen, maybe one day I go back just to get that damn book, so i can rip my Necro in eq peacefully, lol.

Thankyou for heads up for that mask, i am going to get it, as soon has i am old enough. What keeps me going is when I cant get it. EQ died for me the day I satrted to solo raid mobs, at that point I knew it was over. I even attempted to solo my god, needed more mana. Thats when it died for me. Sorry to see you leave, sometimes you need to take rest bwteen grind camps, trust me I am the king of rarest drops in eq, well except for that damn book, lol.

I left the game at level 19, I just didn't see anymore fun to be had past that level... same boring crap.  Plus, I was really pissed about the performance of the game.  I didn't like the NPC, character design and artwork either.  Gameplay, was just like playing a crappier version of WoW.  The only thing I did like in Vanguard, was the the changing sky and volumetric clouds and also how you could see far off in the distance that is about all I liked.

Ehh, yea i got to level 39 before calling it quits.  The quests dont get better, they get worse.  Just dumbed down versions of the previous quest.  I mean the arena 1000 coin quest pretty much did it for me.  That was the most boring thing ive ever had to do in an MMO.

I confess that I really enjoyed Vanguard until I reached the forced-grouping level and my character was repeatedly "nerfed."  The wise men (and women) at SIGIL were fixing things that were not broken but not fixing things that were broken.

I have heard mixed, although mostly negative, comments on the present state of Vanguard; this is important because many of us (including myself) are watching closely to determine whether or not we should resubscribe until WAR (or AoC, etc.).

I think all the new MMO's coming out are going to have this problem, every MMO coming out has the "Been there Done That" feel to it...  Unless they come up with something fresh I think a lot of the MMO's coming out are going to fail badly....

First thing they need to do is move away from Elfs and Orc's....  How about some Sci-Fi

Very well said.  I'll never get the 'first time' feeling again that I had in EQ1 in 1999.  I get that now and won't get addicted to any MMORPG ever again.  Regardless, I do enjoy Vanguard ALOT and it fits the bill for me.
