hello everyone, well.. you might guess this post is about game cards. for those of you who do not know what game cards are here is a description( game cards are just like uhh lets say you want to play FFXI but you dont have a Credit Card and they also have game cards that you can buy for lets say $15 U.S.D and you buy one scrath it off and input the number to log in the game) well anyways, Big mmorpg companies Like "NCSOFT" and PlayOnline( PlayOnline..well they dont make much mmorpgs but they are pretty nig) are forgetting about gamers that do not have, cannot afford, or just simply do not want a credit card like myself, Ive noticed this in many mmorpg's lately.. They should take notes from EQ, they made different payment methods that fit anyone.. I was really mad about 3 weeks ago, I had just bought my copy of FFXI, and while I am trying to register I noticed you can "ONLY" pay with a credit card.. now that is just not right =.. I know MANY people who want to play and cannot play ffxi for this problem. and Ncsoft should have NO problem at all on making game cards they are a pretty big company.. well just wanted to let you guys know, you are free to post comments
and since that day...I have always loved her.....

I personally thought Game cards were always a great idea, it brings in more customers, the people who cannot pay by credit card for some reason, and it's not like you are losing a lot of money off of game cards, though I could be wrong. I wish more companies did it.

lmfao first of all READ THE PAYMENT METHODS!.. lmao dont go buy games willy nilly
second of all some mmorpg actually dont want little kids playing and want a adult envirement
im not trying to say kids arent cool but you have to admit they generate on insulting other people
and destruction to the feel of the game
First of all, I don't think being 18 is a kid (that is the topic poster's age according to him/her), so you need not comment on the kid.
Second of all, adults sometimes would like to buy game cards, why you say? Well some people are very fearful and untrustworthy of the internet and typing their credit card numbers in, because even though the sites are very secure for payments (I hope), they still worry because there is the off chance something can happen, I mean a game I know, their database got hacked and the hackers had access to credit card numbers, so it can happen. Buy buying game cards, you really aren't revealing much, so it is good.

You may not be a kid, in which case i would say you have 3 options.
A: Use your credit card.
B: Get a new credit card and ask for an credit limit of $20. That way even if it is hacked you lose nothing.
C: Get a good credit card from a company which will re-imburse you for any fraudulent use of your credit card.
I come from the UK and i dont think these pay card things have ever been available over here anyway. But i do think that they will attract more kids to the genre. You may not be a kid, but in my opinion it is better to ban all the kids and several adults than let the kids in.

You say SOME, and in all stereotypes there are exceptions. But the majority of kids are immature and that is a fact against which you cannot argue.
I am of the opinion that it is best to not let in the few mature kids in an attempt to keep the immature ones out rather than just let everyone in and POTENTIALLY ruin the community.

Each to his own, but more often then not I have seen communities or guids ruined by greedy or incompetent adults rather then kids. If a game is rated "Teen" it should be available to all "Teens". You want to restrict it to adults, rate the game as "Mature".

I know i may be a bit radical in my views (and i am hoping i am not offending anyone).
but raising the rating from teen to mature is going to affect exactly zero people.
I do realise that some adults also ruin communities, and i also wish these people could be identified and kicked out of the game, but i doubt any company will ever kick off a paying member unless he/she does something incredibly wrong.

If you are 18+, then you should get a credit card. Get a card from a bank you keep money at with a low limit at the least. And at your age, you should actually carry a balance on it every once in a while.
Why?
Because you need to start building your credit. When you do decide you want to get credit for something like car, house, etc, you will need a credit history. The best way to do that is with a credit card.
I would be all for changing the rating to "Mature" if that's what you want the community to be made up of. But if it's "Teen", that's what it should be available to.
And yes, building up a GOOD credit history is important.

and since that day...I have always loved her.....
But thats racial discrimination which is illegal and wrong.
Kids are always discriminated against, there are age limits on drinking (because kids cant handle it), on driving (because kids arent mature and sensible enough), so why not put limits on certain computer games if you are after a mature community?

Game Cards are a great idea. When you think about the younger players, as much as we may not like them playing, they probably aren't allowed to have a credit card yet. On second thought, if we want to keep the community more mature, maybe game cards are not such a good idea. Hmmm.
I work at EB Games, and the game cards we sell are always for adult's, whom I know as regulars, who are using the game cards for themselves.
I have 5 CC and all of them offer internet protection which is great.
Never had a fraud only occasion i had was a few years back when a ISP i paid for over the net for 1 year service went belly up in 4 months.I got the full refund from my CC (yes even for the 4 months spent since they broke the agreement for year) in my first phone call and only had to fax the details of the agreement.
Fact is if you are 18 you should get a CC.If you are worried you will use it too much tell them you want $50 limit or something on it.
Well i support game cards obviously because I don't have a cc.
Without them, i really would not be able to get a mmo...unless it was one i really wanted, like eqii.
But if lineage II didn't sell gamecards, i wouldn't be subscribed right now

Ok I'll take you up on the argument.
Prove it, that's all I have to say, prove it. Can you prove to me that the majority of the "whiners" are indeed teens? Prove it to me. I seriously want to be proven that the majority of teens are truly "whiners" because you are talking to one right now, and I want to know exactly how many of us are "whiners" as you so think.
Anyway, back to thet topic, I still think Game Cards are a great idea, and that guy that worked at EBGames, he/she said it him/herself, many adults buy Game Cards. The whole issue of the topic poster owning a credit card is a different story though.

Why not add game cards? I think they're a good idea despite the fact that they would most likely be used by teens awaiting the age of 18. I myself am 15 years old and I was able to enjoy EQ because of game cards. Not only that, but 60 day subscribtions are a great deal and work out to be a substantial amount of time between the beginning and end of the subscribtion. Two months is a long time in an mmorpg. The 30-day free trial for FFXI (the only game my brother was willing to pay for monthly, and open two accounts for) was engouh to get me a lvl 32 PLD/16 WAR.
Going back to GC, having only mature 18+ gamers takes away the reality that is the essence of an MMORPG. There is that virtually existing world that cannot seem as real, fun, or satisfying without the presence of both masters and novices. So those of you who argue that game cards will promote adolecent gaming, I think you would be better off playing Neverwinter Nights by yourself so that nobody could whine about help with progression throughout the game, shout for someone to revive you, or interfere with your level-cap "1337"ness.

I told you not to fuck wit me Tony!
I agree with Stef, it's the whiners who make an MMORPG, without it, it just wouldn't be the same in my opinion. There are plenty of 20+ year old lamers, and plenty of 20- Lamers, so it's not the issue of litte kids coming in and ruining your experience, "lamers" will be there regardless of game cards, so I don't see the big deal morally on this issue.
