PvP - How do you want it to be?

I'm just curious, since any post on how PvP will be, would be pointless, since blizzard hasn't really finalized it yet. They have given a lot of info on it, and how it's expected to be.

Assuming there are different servers, what type of server would you play on? Also, how would you like the PvP to be handled on that type of server?

 

For example let's say there's 3 basic server types,

Faction vs Faction (meaning alliance vs horde only)

FFA PvP (anyone can kill anyone, group with anyone, guild with anyone, go anywhere)

Co-Op (anyone can group with anyone, guild with anyone go anywhere, however can't kill anyone outside of duels/arena)

 

To get the ball rolling, I personaly look forward to Faction vs Faction, and hope it works how blizzard says it's quite possibly going to be. Mainly Alliance and Horde should be able to fight each other at MOST places in the world, but certainly NOT all. There should be enough safe zones to be able to level up to 60 without ever seeing someone from the other faction. There should also be instanced zones where when you enter them, you only encounter people no more than 5 levels higher or lower than you. Also there should be cities-structures or some sort of landmarks for factions to war over, PvP is always much funner when attacking-defending something. I'm also eager to see how the Arena ends up working, the staged group battles will be fun. Done like this, you'd be able to play the game without ever being worried about being PKed, always have the option to participate in PvP with people close to your level, and also have zones to venture into where you can hunt the enemy in their own lands, where you're liable to catch unsuspecting adventures. I know you may think I'm an ass wanting to kill low level people, but it's being in enemey territory I like, killing low level people always makes the high level people come out to hunt you, that's when the fun starts. ALSO I want that to be possible, so that as a low level player I can venture into certain zones knowing that there's a chance higher level players from the other faction might attack and kill me. Keeps you on yer toes, adds some danger to the gameplay, makes things a bit more exciting, and usualy there's rewards for being in these dangerous areas (better quests, xp, loot). Also if you don't want that kind of thrill, you just stay in the designated NON-pvp zones.

Well, that's how I hope the FvF server is, hopefuly blizzard won't let me down. Yet I'm sure we each have our own idea of what we'd like to see, so share em. image

    yes i'm more into Factional PvP than anything else. yoiu have basiclly said everything that i wuold want in FvF servers. what i'm really lokking forward is the idea of where you're at a camp and buildings are contiusly pumping out units and once there are enough you lead them ouit to battle fighting other parties. i hope blizzard does put this in. but the server i am really hoping blizz will make is a RP server, i'm sure some of you here are RPers and those who are want a RP server to play WoW on. my guild are part of WoW-RA, and if you don't know, all the guilds part of the association are all RPers and we all are hoping for a RP server. if there isn't, we just going to take over a server and claim it as our RP server. hahahahahaimage but yeah, i'm hoping blizz to create a RP server.

    I want FvF, with rules...

    • Should be lvl rules so you only can attack people that are +/- 5-10% from your own lvl.
    • No PvP in towns (extremly strong guards can fix that:p)
    • Some zones should be PvP and PvM, other should be PvM only (not diffrent instances)
    • PvP zones should give a little bit more reward in xp/item drop since it's more risk 
    • If you attack guards in zones that have no PvP then you get flagged and are open for PvP for anyone from the other faction
    • Should be Outposts that the sides can take over, the side that own the outpost will have afew guards there and flags of their color.
    • The faction that own most outposts get a 3% xp bonus for everything they kill(not quest xp)

    I probably missed afew rules, but this is what I want for FvF.(some of the ideas are taken from AO, they have a ok PvP system at higher lvl)

    Then we have guild vs guild too ofcourse...that can declare war to guilds from other side and then are open for PvP anywhere from the other guild.

     

    I also want to see a bonus for xp if one faction is more than 10% bigger than the other, bonus for the faction that are less that is ofcourse so it even out when new players rathre join the smaller faction.

    I think i just like how it is where you go up to the person and ask them want to duel, have a arena where anyone goes into it wants to fight. Because i didn't want it where some just goes up to you and can attack you automaticly because that would be very gay and it would suck for low lvls.

    I want open PVP, I wanna be able to PK newbs and have a ton of fun.image Just kidding... lol. But i like the current consentual PVP system, i think open PVP might destroy this game.

    I'd consider both all out pvp and factional. Id liek to see a few things change for factional though. Like all races being able to acces places jsut as easy as other. im not in beta but it looks like some races have like their own contininent. Say undead has their own continent, odds are the horde would eb stronger their.

       Well most of the points i want have been touched on, but I want a FvF server with the following rules.

    -a nuetral zone that has mobs to say around lvl 20

    -after you leave the neutral zone you can be killed by anyone not from your faction.(this encourages grouping)

    -there should be faction cities and neutral cities where each faction vies to control the key neutral cities, and faction cities have high lvl guards that can be killed by a large enough force.

    -instanced battle zones will be great, but not one that you can just jump into at any time. perhaps daily battles that allow each player to enter once and the last faction standing gains a little advantage(maybe 5% power) for the next 24 hours.

    -key strongholds that provide advantage to whatever faction holds them, but doesnt completely debilitate the other faction. (maybe just give them better access to good hunting areas or instanced zones)

      cant think of much more atm but i definetly dont want a whole bunch of neutral zones. i want players after they get to a certain lvl to always be looking over there shoulder, because by no means is the land suppose to be safe.

    maybe mix faction and co-op image pvp is great, but it has to be fair. its like a level 50 is pking level 1's (nothing like lineage 2image). mixing them would be great, but if not. id say co-op. some other way maybe is you have a non-pk flag, and cant be attacked by other players unless you have attacked someone else first. maybe like a time limit an hour or something untill your in the non-pk flag again. image pvp isnt for everyone. that would be alright, i guess for players that dont like to pvp.image who the hell knows. cant wait for it to come out image

    Co-op between the factions are last thing I want, they can have a very good story since they base it from the Warcraft series, they have a strong lore and everything, imo co-op will destroy alot of the possibilities with the story.

    I read an interview there a Blizzard employee said that you wouldn't be able to have chars on both factions on same server, I really hope they stick with that.

    Yeah Azz, and I'm sure that on release the server type they will have will be Faction vs Faction. However like most other mmorpg's, they'll likely have other servers with different sets of rules. Initialy though, I'm 99% sure it'll be alliance vs horde... after all, why would they split the sides like that if not for PvP reasons...

    Can be for PvM and storyline reasons too I guess, but PvP reason is the most logical and what I really hope it is for.

    PvM Means I think Player Verse Monster... I believe that's how he meant it.

     

    However the terms that you SHOULD know are

    PvP Player vs Player

    and

    PvE Player vs Environment (which means monsters basicaly...)

    Well... I haven't played the beta either, but I read up on it a lot so I think I got an idea.

    I know everyone has really high standards for what PvP should be in an MMORPG but quite frankly I don't. I remember the old days of Diablo 2, where we would just go out and kill eachother whether it be just for fun or serious corpse taking, but it was still really fun, and there was nothin to it. I want something like that, but maybe a little more complicated. First of all, you shouldn't be allowed to kill someone if they don't want to be attacked (i realize they already have this in beta). I would like to have some sort of ranking server as well, kind of like warcraft 3 in a way. You would get a certain amount of experience from players that are greater in level than you or lower in level. To stop people from just killing their friends 100 times, maybe just one duel for each person a day that will actually count, and no fighting within guilds will go to your record. Maybe you could have set guild matches too on certain dates where 2 guilds at a time will have a Free for all in that huge stadium, and it will work its way up like in tournaments in warcraft 3. Well that's just my suggestion, and I'm not really the most hardcore of PvPers, so I don't really need the huge cities going to battle with tanks and other machines and such, just a simple way to fight others and hopefully become the best PvPer.

    This was probably already mentioned, but what the hell:

    From vantage of single-player/team entity:

    Opposing entity defined as PC/Non-team member

    If opposing entity is of enemy faction then => pvp automatically enabled

    Else if:

    Opposing entity is of friendly/same faction => Query opposing entity

    Case: Opposing entity agrees => Pvp enabled

    Case: Opposing entity disagrees => Pvp disabled and locked for duration vs that unique opposing entity

     

    Just my cup of tea given all of the faction-constraints.

    I definantly want a system like the one in Anarchy Online, the % zones there are just brilliant, then you dont get alot of PvPers at 1 main gathering spot, and you can invade the opposite factions Arena with a big team. :D Kick ass ppl 6-1 is soooo fun when it comes to taking out the opposite side. And the ability to have team PvP is KICK ASS FUN!

    argh i definetly dont want a system like that. maybe they can do one server like that for ppl who are afraid to die, but i want to be able to kill someone from the other faction if i come across them no matter if they like it or not.

    If opposing entity is of enemy faction then => pvp automatically enabled

    Else if:

    Opposing entity is of friendly/same faction => Query opposing entity
