This is the idea is came up with, about 10 years ago, when i was 12, while playing rainbow 6. In those 10 years i've added some stuff.
It would be a mmog with fps like in battlefield or rainbow 6 raven shield. Not doom run and gun.
These are classes i came up with when i was 12, Maybe it would be better if they are skills everyone ccould gain.
Ninja skill
Ill start off by explaining the nija skill. They would play a espionage, silant assassin and behind enermy lines game. You could change cloths like in hitman, run up walls, crawl down vents, place explosives, hide etc. On the battlefield they would be very agile, fast but easily killed when there cover is blown. They would be sent in to kill commanders or destroy strategic important buildings.
Fighter
Needs no real explanation. Just think battlefield
Pilots / drivers
They could control anything from a bike, to a plane, to a interstella death star. Twitch and player control based, no point and click. controling cars, bike, planes would be the same as bf2142. Controling spaceships would be like rogue squadron.
Tactical support
These players would control weapons and abilites inside tanks, ships, The Death Star etc. Combat would be like a rpg with abilites. The difference is instead of just targeting the enermy and hitting you abilites you would have to target certain points on the enermy. Such as the wheels, weapons, jets engine, warp core, shields. Etc. This would add a huge amount of tactical gameplay. Other stuff would be like command on the battlefield. The tactical support could use artillery or land npc troops for backup.
Business person
This would have multiple subclasses or sub skills. Imagine it like a rts game. A cross between civ4, gangsters and command and conquare. You could control 'units' to gain 'land'. Don't think of a unit as a troop. Think of them more as a gangster working for you or a mercant working at you business. Also land don't mean a physical mass. It could be the stock market, a shop, protection money from merchants.
These are some of the subclasses i've thought up
I'm sure with a bit of thought we could think of a million different subclass but i'll leave it as those.
Setting
I'm not a story writer so i won't go into this. I would prefer if the game was set in a sci fi futuristic setting. With space and land to play in.
There are a million things that could be added to my game idea but i think i've gone into its far enough.
Even some games that originally started out as pvp games are now being retrofitted with consentual duels, less penalty for dying, and "safeguards".
I just get bored of those type of mmo's too fast. I wish they'd make more of those through-and-through pvp mmo's where pvp is the main focus of the game. Planetside, Shadowbane, and Eve are good examples of pvp models I like. GW is a good example of a game that has good pvp in itself, but it doesn't involve any risk or reward and is 100% consentual, which means it takes away most of the metagame that could be there.
In a pvp mmo, I enjoy the strategy (strategy != tactics) and politics aspects. These just aren't there with arena-based matches.
And just as a disclaimer, I'm not complaining about the amount of pve mmo's, but more the lack of pvp ones.
Massive Multiplayer Online "2dFighting" Role Playing Game!
What do you get when you combine "Streetfighter 2 Turbo" and "Everquest"?
This is my idea. I want it to be made. The game would work with two modes of play........
First: an outer game world which is 3d and persistant, like Everquest.
Second: Battles will be 1v1 2d fighting. With street fighter 2 turbo fighting mechanics, or similiar. The more simple the fighting mechanics, the easier it will be to create balanced gameplay. So putting all your points into strength won't give you an advantage over someone who's much faster then you.
Power ups, training and leveling up in outer game world make you a better fighter in the 2d battles.
Directly connecting to another person's PC could reduce lag enough for smooth 2d fighting action.
I can write about this forever, if your a developer and want to use this idea contact me for more details. I many idea's for how this game should be. If it is done right I belive it can become the number 1 fighting game ever. With many people becoming very competitive over it. Gambling can be involved too. E-mail me with heading MMOFRPG.
More genre's should be mixed, now is the time.
errrm, its allready made... there is mmofps games out and have been out for years, no one really well done tho, but if ur looking for a mmofps, then i would really suggest u look up huxley, its a upcomming mmofps... kinda like what u describe and even more.

nice idea xsilick, i also wantet a mmo fighting game i just couldt figur out how it would be done.... but u got a nice idea there with the combination of 2D and 3D.
I would like to see a better superhero genre MMO; City of Heroes is okay, but I feel that despite its faithful content updates, it is severely dated. Marvel Heroes Online and DC Comics Online are both in a race to hit the MMO market, so lets see what that does. I would rather see a City of Heroes 2, starting from scratch, and build it with a fps style control system and be all skill based.
Right now we have PvE which changes nothing. Here's your quest: Go save the Princess. Yay! I saved the princess! Now what happens? Nothing. Everything is the same as before, and another player can save the Princess. Yay! The Princess gets saved everyday, and nothing changes, how fun.
Crafting changes the world to a small degree. Crafters can make items that are permanent, or semi-permanent and make somewhat of a difference. However, it would be nice to see the ability to craft larger projects that really affect the world, like a bridge, or pyramid that gives buffs to all nearby players in the faction that did the construction, or spaceships, or whatever.
PvP DAoC style is fun, but changes very little. My side took a keep. Yay! Now your side took it back. Booo! Now my side took the keep back, again. Yay! Who cares. There is one feature in DAoC, Darkness Falls, that actually changes the world by giving only players with enough keeps in their possession access to that dungeon. More features like that please. Lots more.

How about an MMO where character development is based on evolution. You start out as a simple creature, and you develop new abilities based on what you do and what happens to you. For example, you keep swimming, so you get better at it and develop new appendages like fins, gills which allow you to go deeper underwater and access new content. You jump a lot, so overtime you can jump higher and higher and your "legs" get stronger and bigger - eventually you can fly. I'm imagining a huge PvP element. So you got killed by someone - well, your characer actually learned from the experience and developed greater defenses against those attacks - e.g. a hard shell to defend against piercing attacks. That way the same repetitive attacks wouldn't work forever because your enemies naturally evolve to resist. You keep eating the purple berries that grow on nearby bushes, so your character slowly starts to turn purple and arms get longer to reach the berries high up in the bushes. The idea could be implemented as simply as increasing the damage you do with a particular attack the more you do it, but you might sacrifice the ability to do something else well (e.g. because that punching arm has become so big you don't move as fast as you used to.) Spend all your time eating and you get bigger - I'm imagining a flying character getting big enough that others can actually climb on his back to get transported over great distances (a player-created flying mount). It's endless. Ok I'll stop now.
It's hasn't been made. Maybe you just read the first sentance but if you read all of what i wrote you would see there a many things that havn't been put into mmogs.
I'm planning on giving huxley a try but huxley i believe is just a part of what i'm talking about. I'm just speculating but huxley look like doom3 in a large world. I just used the term fps so ppl get the idea of a character skill based game out of there head when reading it. I'm looking for a player skill based mmog.
From what i've heard huxley with have upgrade weapons and lvls. If lvls and better weapons have any big increase in damage for the player then it defeats the point of what I like about fps. The fun in battlefield 2 comes from winning with your own skill, not a better weapon or extra health.

yeah ok i see what u mean now and btw í said upcomming mmofps in that term i mean a mmofps that is not out yet, but is comming out at some point.
I'd also like to see more sci-fi genre MMOs, for I feel that developers focus WAY too much on the WoW type fantasy MMOs and aren't taking advantage of a broad spectrum of options that are available as far as time/setting and genre go. Matrix and SWG done well would be awesome, too bad both of those games totally tanked.
