It is a good solid game. It has decent graphics, is based on questing/storyline (not grinding) has a clean interface, and fun gameplay. Overall it is good. It will be popular.
Applied to the world tour last week. The game is amazing, and at Ultra High Quality it looks amazing! Played it for about 5 days now, and just Ordered my copy today. I can personally recommend this game to anyone who likes story driven mmo's.
yeah I pre-ordered it now, and its ok; you have to see for yourself really. Now is the best time as its in Beta Phase to get a free taste of it.
I've played in past: WOW, SWG, Guildwars, EVE, Everquest, City of Viilans, Secondlife, the sims online, Anarchy Online, Seed, Some Pirate thingey, Rose, There, A tale in the Desert and a few others that i can't remember (only when the name pops up, I remember them, lol) Some crap, some ok when they were new, heh.
It's fun, but I didn't like leveling, so I went and explored as much as I could, which was fun, I mostly explored which was fun, It looks nice but, I'm not going to buy the game anytime soon, I'll wait for a few months & see if anythings changed, but I've been playing beta for a long time now & it kept getting better, so i think after a few months after release, it will be a very good game
I didn't realize there were so many WoW clones...seeing WoW was the first MMO ever made..oh wait, wasn't there something before WoW, another MMO or 2 or 3 or ....
Yes, I started playing in the last month of the closed beta and pre-ordered so I could join the open beta. I've got a pair of 15's right now and enjoy the game. It will make people who enjoy quest driven, level oriented game play like WoW or other games. If you want a middle-earth simulation, or a sandbox game with lots of FFA PVP this is not the game for you. (but then, what is?)
Games I've played in the past include WOW, COH/COV, GW, Shadowbane, DAOC, Lineage 1and 2, and Vanguard.

Yeh I was in the closed beta i think. Got my invite sometime in february or so. Played for a grand total of 4 or 5 hours and then deleted it. Was too much of a WoW clone for my liking. "fetch 5 of this etc". Graphics were phenomenal though! Absolutely kicked the crap out of WoW graphics. i thought combat moves were way too buggy and pressing a hotkey for a move took like 2 or 3 seconds to happen in game.
in conclusion: i won't be buying this game, or ever playing it for that matter. just not what I was after in a game. UO:T2A 4 lyfe!
i agree with you 110%. i have found that it was laggy even when you put your setting way low. also that it is to much like everquest or WOW. the main thing i dislike about those type of games are the amount of time it takes to get from place to place. but if you have x-fire or play any other games i would like to know. my x-fire is joeontheloose.
thank you for your post and i hope you find more games that you like. if you would like i can give you a good game to look into. for comp, PS2, game cube, or others.
LOTRO is decent, but you can't really go wrong when you copy everything from previous games and put it in a LOTR setting. Classes, instances, auction house, mail system, copper/silver/gold, mounts, fast travel routes, repair gear, it's all there and mainly copied from WoW (which already was a copy of many previous). It's so bad that even the developers mention those other games in their journals.
If you like grinding on monsters and doing the basic 'find my bag I lost in xx ruins' and 'boars are a plague for the village, get me 12 boar heads' quests, then this is a game for you. I think its a cheap game and a missed opportunity, had they come up with some new concepts and put this in a LOTR setting it would have been the new market leader.
In today's society, it's really hard and rare to see originality and innovation. So just deal with it because it's not going to change.
Pirates of the Burning Sea is a rather new concept, Age of Conan takes combat to a new level and so does The Chronicles of Spellborn. In the non MMO world, Nintendo tries to be innovative everytime and succeeds at it (Wii & DS).
Im not asking for a whole new game, because that is not going to happen. However some new concepts wouldn't hurt? I was saddened that the LoTR name was used for a blatant copy of other MMO's, there are maybe a few new things. No risk was taken. Is it that hard to think outside of the box? I can go more in depth on this topic, because I did play the game for quite a while, but you probably understand my point. Obviously there is still a market for such games, personally Im just tired of it.
well, i think that they put alot of games out that they cover most of the catagories. but the thing they look at is what everyone likes, such as i like killing/war games. but the thing they dont do is make games on the negetive side so then people would be inpressed by a new kind of game even though it is not a kind that they like. the main part of it all is not to intertain the kids but to make money. find what the kids want and make money.

Me personally i loved it and will buy it when my missus lends me the cash lol, but no matter what the haters say this game is worth giving a shot.
